My great-grandfather emigrated from the famine. I don't have personal feelings about it myself, but hereditary monarchies make no sense to me.

I like the idea of separating the head of government and the head of state so the head of government doesn’t get too uppity. Maybe we should go with some kind of reality show game thing to pick a king or queen that has no powers but lives in a great castle with all the best foods and has their face in the money and opens malls and stuff.

We can have a national holiday when they die and then start some ridiculous, non skilled tv contest to replace them after a period of mourning
