Decent players getting overpaid is the same regardless of what the CAP is at.
- GreatGigInTheSky

Its not when they get paid off of cap percentage.

Players get paid based off cap projection.

Its why Marner got 11M.

Or maybe next year when starts his third full year in the majors he gets a bit better and the year after that a bit better again.

The difference between Bo’s fielding % and the # 5 guy is .965 to .971. He’s hit 6 HRs this year and Bo has been carrying the Jays.

- Canada Cup

problem with fielding % is it doesnt count range. Bo might not get to a lot of balls other SS do.

here he looks pretty bad, also gives runs prevented.

Well 8M dollars will be 9M dollars in just a few years.

So not so insane considering the last 3 years cap hasn't changed at all.

- Santo_44

I think we're probably 2 more stagnant years away from real growth - the next 2 should be recovery and escrow recapture. I think that's where we were before the pandemic hit.

Bo's ego may affect his tenure with this team if he can't accept a position shift.
- mjones242

He accepted a move to # 7 in the batting order without any fuss while Vladdy seems stuck in the #2 spot.

There’s no rumours from anywhere in the organization that they want to move a guy who’s in his second year in the majors out of his position. There’s some suggestions in a hockey thread that this might be a good idea just like there was lots of talk in the same thread about getting rid of him earlier in the season.

I think offensive wingers (~70+ point types) coming off their ELC's have always got comparable $$ when they sign for long term.

Teams get to pick whether they do a bridge at less dollars or buy up their potential on a 7 or 8 yr deal.

Didn't Daly tell us we're 83.5 in 23/24 and then they hope to jump in 24/25?

All I had heard myself was that next year was $1m; I had assumed a slow progression like we were in prior to the pandemic. If it's resuming normal growth (3 - 5% annually) in 24/25, or even a larger jump, that would be helpful.

Here's the piece from Friedman

NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly is optimistic the salary cap can get a significant boost after the 2023-24 season -- a year ahead of earlier forecasts from the league.

"I’ve seen some preliminary estimates recently which would make me more optimistic on the cap going up sooner whether that’s in two seasons or three seasons, I think it’s more likely than not two seasons rather than three," Daly said in an interview with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek from European Media Day on Wednesday.

So what does everyone think about the advertising on the jerseys?🤮
- .HOHO.

They could advertise Vaseline on the ass of every player for all I care, as long as it raises the goddamn Cap so we can keep our great/good players and add a few better ones once and awhile.

Tired of the current approach of "searching the Lost and Found box at the front of the classroom hoping to find a mitten that matches" every off season.

A lot people in Russia have real back luck with "falling".

"Vladimir Putin's point man for developing Russia's vast Arctic resources has died after 'falling overboard' while sailing off the country's Pacific coast.

Ivan Pechorin, 39, was managing director of Putin's Far East and Arctic Development Corporation"

Yes, but the provinces still need to decide if they are going to declare it a holiday.

Good lord, I hope not.

I can't help but compare her death to that of the police officer Andrew Hong. His death is more relevant to our lives, imho.

I don't give a rat's ass about the death of the queen, and I sure as frank don't need a day off to mourn.
