Perhaps I will be proven wrong...but I don't think so. Murray is a fragile goalie. Not only does he give up soft goals, he gives them up at really bad times during the game. After an outstanding career start in Pittsburgh, his game fell off and his career regressed. He lost the starting job and was traded to Ottawa.

Ottawa subsequently trades him to the Leafs for nothing and the Sens retain 1/3 of his salary.

So, why are folks now being motivated into dumping all over Campbell and the Oilers for their lack of playoff success?

It wouldn't be unprecedented.

If Campbell had continued to play like he did in the first half of the season through the playoffs the Leafs would have given him all the money. Like I said he was ok in the playoffs but he was outplayed by Vasi who was mostly ok except when it really mattered.

So Leaf’s management concluded they’ve seen his upside and they were going to move on. Murray is a gamble but a guy they know pretty well. He’s younger than Campbell. IMO, he’s better technically and he’s certainly shown he can perform in the playoffs.

It’s no secret he fought with the Sens coaching staff over how they wanted him to play. He’ll certainly be better supported in Toronto where there’s a much better player development and medical staff.

It’s still a gamble but after they moved on from Jack, he’s the guy the has the most potential upside. We’ll see if it works.

I understand that Murray is a risk and it might work out well for the Leafs. He still shows flashes of brilliance.

The part that I don't understand is the criticism of Campbell. The Leafs would not pay him what the market thought he was worth. So, he moved on. I believe he would have been more than happy to stay. But Leafs did not want to do a deal beyond 2 years. So, he did what anyone would do...he moved on and took the security of the longer term deal

The most British thing ever: the Royal Beekeeper has informed the Queen’s bees that she has passed on. Yes, this is a real thing.

How should we grade him? He’s better than Talbot. I don’t think it’s overly critical to say he was very good for part of last year and pretty bad for a long stretch of last year. He played ok in the playoffs. Leafs didn’t lose because of him but he was the second best goalie just like he was the year before. Which part is being overly critical? How much better is he going to get?

I personally don’t think he’s as technically good as Murray. Murray has to regain his form. Leafs think they can get him there. If he does, he has a lot more upside and has shown he can perform in pressure situations.

Maybe the Oiler D is just what Jack needs

Yesterday, Charles didn’t own a single a swan. Today he owns every swan in England. Really makes you think. I’m not sure what it really makes you think of but it really makes you think.

Hoping a guy can regain form that has frankly been gone for some time now is quite the gamble. Dubas put himself in a position where he had few options. We'll see how it turns out. If it works, it's genius. If it doesn't, well who would *really* be surprised?

Because no Leafs fan has ever criticized Campbell for moving on.

In fact, it wasn’t his choice - he wasn’t offered a contract.

Jesus, if you are going to troll, at least put in some effort.

This crap is so franking stoopid, it sounds like something Spatso would write.
