Maybe if Dubas got the Samsonov signing done before Murray he could've created a little leverage for himself.

Altho, if Dubas' plan all along was Murray in net, since he's familiar with him, maybe he just wanted to make sure he got him regardless of everything else.

Maybe it's just Murray is Dubas' guy this season for whatever reason.

Look at the structure. It goes five mill then 6.5 for the next. Then 10,10,9.9.

If he took lower for a couple years bridge (2x5.75) you think his next deal would have been more than 10 per?

not really. not yet anyway. He's not really underpaid until he becomes an 80ish point player. Which there is a pretty good chance he does, but until that happens, 8 mil is a lot to pay for a 60 point player.

It's a good, not great contract (yet). this is obviously the kind of player you want to take these gambles on though.
