My hope for the Leafs season in net.....

IF Matt Murray is able to stay healthy long enough for Sam to work with the tending coaches and get his game to the point he can be the tender he was drafted to be. IF, the tending coaches can calm Sam down and teach him to stay big and square in the net and not be all over the place. He may be a great pick up.... I think Murray is a stop gap to get Sam ready to be #1.

I may be way off...

If Samsonov is good this year the Leafs probably cant afford him next season.

Dubas could always pull a Mrazek and get rid of Murray if it happens.

rinse and repeat. Hyman, Campbell, micky ...im sure Bunting next
double edged sword, if they do well, its good for the leafs, but if they do well its bad for the leafs....keeping them

Yeah that is true, he it not tied to either long term.

The beauty of not signing Jack long term.

They'll need their young guys to keep improving but things could go really well for them imo.

absolutely everything goes right, they MIGHT make the playoffs. But I think that's doubtful, as there is zero chance of them passing tampa or Toronto, and while Florida has lost some key players, them either. They basically stand no shot at competing for anything but a wild card, and for that, they'll have to beat out Boston, oitt/wash, and detroit and columbus are both better too.

It's a good idea, but generally goalies playing with a ball glove have to quit the game when the streetlights come on.

Im kind of in the same boat. I think Samsonov could be the long term solution in net. Hoping both play well enough that Sam can take over #1 next season and Murray has some value to be traded in the off season.

Florida will be decimated by injuries this year...and to make things even worse, they will end up missing the playoffs and they will WIN the lottery next summer.

I wish that dude well, but damn, I think Edmonton is going to regret that contract.

Same as Kadri in Calgary.

Fun fact: Kadri and Tavares are the same age.

Leafs win the division, Sens sneak into the playoffs, Leafs vs Sens 1st round. Samsonov is injured, Murray poops the bed.
- Symba007

99% sure they will. He had one good month and his 5v5 sv% wasn't good. He has been a good goalie over the last few years but nothing to warrant him 5x5M

The Muzzin buyout/trade becomes a really good possibilty next summer to free up space if needed.

I think with the major projected cap increases these contracts will be the norm now.

Yeah Muzzin is trades next season.

He has like 4M and I think even less after his signing bonus.

Believe I had read something at one point or another about Murray's last year being incredibly buyout friendly, and that being part of the allure in taking him at only 25% retained.

Unsure how accurate that is but 🤷🏻‍♂️
