Is it really a lot? I think its fair. Yeah he only had a break out season last year, but all the Tools are there. Just his shot alone will score him 10-20 on one timers. I will admit before last year I was not sold but Tallness made me a believer. And kudos to Meatballs for sticking with him at center.

I will say right now Tage goes 40+48 88 pts, More then Eichel ever scored in a Sabres uni and I predict he out scores him next year too.

Yeah, there guys scoring 30-35pts a year making 5m. And this is also a wake up to the NHL that the Sabres are growing as a team and players might actually want to come here because they are finally starting to commit.

Think you guys are sleeping on tall man timber. Think we have our joe thorton light but tage can actually score goals. Theres noone else in the league that has his tools with his skill set.

Yea after watching him the first few years as a sabre i get the hesitation but theres no way last season was a fluke. Dude played really solid hockey that i would not consider just getting lucky bounces.

At worst a high end 2nd line center if one of these young kids can take the 1st line center duties from him in a few years. Think tage hits 30g40a this year barring injury.

He definitely had more than an average amount of puck luck last season. I could understand his even strength scoring dropping but the guy scored 10 pp goals on 100 shots. It’s likely he will get more ppg’s next year with an increase in pp shots.

I’d have rather seen him get a deal at 8x8 in January because he is lighting it up, than this now just because I’m afraid he is a flash in a pan.

I hope he turns into a Malkin-lite, and a lot of us wrote him off before last year, but I’m still not sure about the timing of this deal.

The play for Tage was to bet on himself having another excellent season, then sign a shorter term, especially with the large leverage he would have contractually, and with the cap expected to leap forward in the next couple of seasons.

He signed now because it was a fair deal.
