The first round pick Calgary used in the Monahan trade, is not this years draft lol....and it's conditional. Mtl can take next year's pick if it is in the 20-32 range, or they can get the highest of Calgarys two first rnd picks (one from Fla in 25)......

The point he's making is the secret was out, Calgary already was well into the process of signing/had signed Kadri and HAD to make a move. They were in no position of strength to make a deal, and yet they still somehow gave up no 2023 picks.

Vegas was in a dire position too, and had to make a move. Somehow, they dealt Patches for future considerations lol.

If the Flyers ultimately wanted to make a deal to clear space, this past summer, or into this season, it shows it can be done by a competent management staff. Their hands weren't tied to only dealing 2023 first rnd picks.

Im sorry but not trading their probable top 5 pick in the upcoming draft is one of the only good things Chuck has done lately.

They weren't giving up a first round pick to get rid of JVR and that is the going rate. Not really much else to say. With the depth and talent level of next year's draft they simply didn't want to give up that pick.

Out of all the moronic things CF as done, the one thing I will NOT fault him for is not giving up a first-round pick (in any year) to get rid of guy who will probably produce at a 20-20 pace. There was actually a secondary benefit - not having $7MM to sign another player we would be paying into their mid-late 30's -- that would have been as disastrous as giving up the pick. What I do question is, was there market for JVR at 50%?

I’m interested in knowing how big you are because you have such a little person’s mentality. Like who provokes fights on the internet? Do me a favor, show these conversations to a girl and ask her if these petty posts make you look cool. I’m seriously curious.

Exactly, can we at least give the GM credit for not dealing the g pick to sign a guy that they without a doubt should not have signed in the first place?

Does anyone, anywhere actually think it was an intelligent idea to sign JG? Anyone?

Even if they had 10 or 15 mill under the cap it still would have been a terrible hockey Opps decisions. Terrible.

But to give up a 1st rounder to make that happen, would have been a disaster. Almost as bad as getting lucky to get the 2nd pick in the draft and taking Patrick over the other two dmen.

The post was directly about JVR, it would have been a first this year or next. This was a very pointless post.

Based on the direction the Flyers are taking yes JG would have been a great add. The GM says they need elite talent. They are not going to rebuild so to add an elite player for only money would have been a smart move.

Correct. Context and perspective is everything. As if once JVR is done and the cap goes up, they aren't going to spend that money? So spend it on Kevin Hayes and adding players like Ristolainen. Or spend it on an elite player like Gaudreau. I would prefer the Flyers focus on drafting and developing players but we know they're going to continue to be aggressive.

Agreed, we will get another plug. The whole issue with the Gaudreau saga for me is we’ve been terrible for two years, we knew we had a realistic shot of signing him. Those cap moves to be ready for that should have been made a long time ago. Not trading a first round pick with JVR.

They refuse to go "all in" in either building around what they have or tearing it down. That is a clear cut recipe for at best being middle of the pack.

It is pretty simple what path they need do take to me.

You’re life seems so exciting with every post. Who here are you trying to impress? I believe you mentioned something about “the masses” agreeing with you? Do you also hear the people of hockeybuzz chanting your name?
- SuperSchennBros

This would be a prime example of the larger group agreeing with me, mostly because your JVr take was so idiotic. You post on here too man, quite a lot, pretending your life is somehow better than another’s is pretty dumb.

In the rare event they are in the playoff "race", I can see 100% him moving that pick.

not trading any first pick, just to move JVR was a good move.

What larger group? Who are you talking about? furio16?? If my “take” or minor smelling errors are one of your biggest concerns in life, that sounds like a you problem. So my question becomes, is getting up in the morning and impressing other posters on hockeybuzz.com one of your big motivations in life?

I will play along for a while. How is my ego fragile?

Funny coming from you as all you do is whine about being picked on, ganged up on, other posters starting "fights".

I’ve never whined about being picked on. I made one throw away comment about feeling “bullied” years ago when I first started using this and you took it literally. News flash, I’ve been using this site since 2006.

Yesterday you and Claudefather made the exact same comment looking to start a fight. This isn’t the sign of a fragile ego or someone with very little going on in their lives? I don’t know you, we have never met.
