I'd feel better if I knew how long the potential recovery is with Ellis. I understand the team might not even know that, but I would be more inclined to be patient if I knew Ellis is missing camp and the first XX weeks of the season. He would return in December? January? In time for playoffs? Oh, wait...

It’s going to at least be a calendar year at the minimum….from Tort’s comments, for a soft tissue injury…or injuries, what ever the hell it is. Apparently no surgery can help, so the player continues to collect 6 mil a year while not having to earn a penny. I know every time there’s a strike or collective bargaining the one thing the players have always been able to protect is “guaranteed contracts”. This is an example where by for the betterment of the team, the league and the product would be better served if there were mechanism’s in place to allow teams to have injury settlement’s…. I’d love to see more of an NFL model where by contracts only have portions of the contracts that are guaranteed ….(unless you sexually come onto a whole bunch women trying to give you message therapy) then I can see why a contract is fully guaranteed.

Seems to me that Nashville gained plenty. They got out of a 6+M deal with 6 years of term left for an injury prone player.
- MJL

In hindsight absolutely, I’m sure there were fans of Nashville that were disappointed in the return at the time though.

When is the gathering to celebrate the former career of Ryan Ellis?!

He is getting ramped up for the playoff push after the all star break

Don't forget the premise offered by one of the resident prognosticators. This is about Ellis not wanting to play for the Flyers. He's just trying to force a trade.

Not to mention they packaged Myers and a B prospect to get MacDonagh.

it's remarkable how little all 3 teams have to show for what they acquired in the trade involving Ellis, Patrick/Myers, and Cody Glass
- Coburns_Nose

actually, the Flyers have a lot to show for it - $6.25MM for 6 years of garbage

Any player can experience a freak accident at any time. The difference is, Ellis has always had problems with injury, which some including myself pointed out the day of the trade.
- SuperSchennBros

Spot on. He was damaged goods from the first day of the trade.

Ryan Ellis appreciation night will be when the Flyers host Nashville. Tickets are on sale now. Personally, I'm hoping #94 is taken out of circulation. The dude earned it. 4 of the most memorable games I have ever watched in all my time as a Thrasher fan.

I said that I wouldn't attend games or support the flyers with my wallet but there is no way in hell I'd miss the celebration of Ryan Ellis in a Flyers uniform! I'll never forget those 4 games that he played next to provy!

Bill has to be surprising Ellis won't be ready. Seems like the team was really counting on him in many different ways. This has probably set them back.

Nuclear hands Dan Kordic.

I remember that game the Kordic brothers played against each other, and it got uncomfortably close to brother vs. brother fisticuffs.

Wayne Van Dorp fought Dan I believe.

Can’t factor that in, Tampa needed to clear cap. Nashville had the leverage since they were taking the cap hit.

How about Stastny to Carolina for 1.5 per for 1 year.

Cap hit for 2024-2025 as of right now is $54mil + on 15 players. Yowza!

That's all basically fowards too. Provorov, Ellis and Risto only d-men signed for that season and no goalies.

So basically three years of the exact same team. Enjoy everyone.

But the Preds are paying a half mil more for a top 4 dman who plays versus a top 4 who doesn’t.

I was hoping the Wild would get him for 2 mil. Doubt he wanted to go there tho. Great move by the Canes!

He is already a legend on this board!
Add in the fact that he will make 36 million and only have to play 4 hockey games as a flyer! That's got to be a record, right?! Or does bryz hold the record for money made without playing games? 🤔

Everyone knew he had injuries, never anything long term. Your post was irrelevant and incorrect

he had missed about 22% of his games due to injuries before the trade
