I didn’t remember Daley as being undersized and that’s because he wasn’t. I just looked him up. 5’11”, 195lbs. So I’m not seeing the comparison. I think Torey Krug, 5’9”, 185 is more what we should be hoping for. - Djapana
Sometimes hope and reality clash. Daley played small when he came up. That’s not surprising as he was a boy among men. Krug can get outmuscled and he’s listed at 194 lbs on db. Andrae becoming another Krug would be an upgrade but imo, Andrae won’t get there. I’ve been wrong before and I could be wrong again.

Jared Spurgeon? - MJL
Size wise very much so. Andrae needs to improve his skating somewhat. In the end, if something keeps him out of the NHL, skating will be the thing.

Let’s see how he performs in a higher league this season. Maybe the next Greg Hawgood. |

Wasn't aware that his skating was an issue. Lack of size and skating issues are not a good combo.

Well, they’re the same height. Spurgeon is listed at 166 lbs but his teammates and the media laugh and say he’s barely 160. Spurgeon is a small guy who plays bigger. He has a high hockey IQ, leverages his body well and is wiry tough. I have to see much more of Andrae but right now Daley is the ceiling I see for him.

When I see support for that villain, that grifter, that amoral sack of poop, our former POTUS, I discover new levels of antipathy.
I have foregone OLD friendships due to this extreme lack of sympathy for him and his supporters.
Mostly it's a lack of understanding, by me, of what they consider important and necessary. Any time I seek to see the basis for their fanatic adherence to this POS, I only see weak-minded, slow-thinking voters who like to fight about what they don't even comprehend. I have no solution for tearing off their blindfolds.
Because their worse attribute is they are willfully ignorant and therefore will never learn and consequently accept ideas at variance with their only true concerns, 'feelings, faith, and beliefs'.
They have accepted the Golden Calf to follow, no matter the consequences. - Pompous
Be very careful how you speak of Obama. Some may label you a racist. And they would be correct.

Imagine if he hits his ceiling as a Kimmo timonen type player. I doubt that the flyers have that type of luck but it's fun to imagine him becoming that type of player. He was spoken very highly of when he was drafted but it seems he took a little while to reach where he is now. I'm curious to see how he does at the next level and how he progresses at that level
If he does well then we may have a diamond in the rough |

So you have to approve of someone because the color of they're skin Who's the true racist. I prefer to judge by who someone is, they're actions, policies and how hot the wife is, thank you very much. Trump 2040! Build that Wall, Lock Her Up, Recount those Votes! |

Disgusting World Juniors Final. Finland got raped. 7-1 PP advantage for Canada (yet they STILL barely outshot Finland), soft calls, numerous missed calls against Canada (Canada goal 2 was preceeded by an EGREGIOUS Canada interference/check from behind whatever you want to call it that was not called). Just unfortunate a game between two great teams was marred by corrupt/sloppy officiating that clearly favored one side.
Had the roles been reversed Canda would be in riot mode today. Congrats to Finland, hard to overcome what was stacked against you yesterday.
If we are going to review plays I say let teams have the chance to review ANYTHING. Finland would clearly have reviewed Canada goal 2 and instead of Canada with a 2-0 gimme, it would be 1-0 Canada with Finland on the powerplay. Just ridiculous. - kwolf68
I agree with you about how the game was officiated, Canada really did get some home cooking for sure. I also thought the check from behind had to be called, then like you said, resulted in goal which turned into a huge advantage for Canada. Commentators seemed to be all one sided as well. Having said that, I thought it still turned into a very entertaining game, exciting too. Shame it was marred in that way. Good hockey by both clubs. |

Thoughts on how each of our prospects played according to The Athletic.
F Tyson Foerster (Philadelphia Flyers): He can still shoot it! The shoulder looked fine on that front! Went to the net-front and played off of his linemates well. Understands where he is on the ice and uses shoulder checks to pre-survey before he gets the puck. Hustle plays. Skating well. Playing with intention and effort. He was the third-best player on Canada’s excellent second line and yet that’s not a knock because they were the best trio in the tournament (or right there with Hirvonen, Raty and Kemell for the Finns).
F Elliot Desnoyers (Philadelphia Flyers): I liked how Desnoyers rose to the challenge of his checking role to play a physical brand. He’s always been a Swiss Army knife type and he was the perfect fit for a bottom-six role with this Team Canada because of his ability to win draws, stay above pucks, forecheck and penalty kill.
D Emil Andrae (Philadelphia Flyers): Captain and he played at a captain level, too. Good in every game. Big in big moments. You name it. Andrae was Sweden’s most productive player as a defenceman, and he was their best player at both ends while playing huge minutes too. Great touch and weight on his passes. Physical and strong for his size. Danced a few defenders one-on-one. Aggressive yet calculated offensively. Making all the right decisions on when to attack off the line into his shot or when to distribute. Shot popping and he does such a good job adjusting his angles to get it through. Noticed him shoulder-checking a ton going back for pucks, even under pressure (when some players lose those habits), so that the quick decisions he was forced into by pressure were still planned plays.
D Brian Zanetti (Philadelphia Flyers): Despite being one of only two drafted players on this Swiss roster, the 19-year-old Zanetti hardly played, averaging under 10 minutes per game in the round robin and then slotting onto the team’s fourth pairing for the quarterfinal (they ran eight defencemen). It was his point shot that got through traffic to get the Swiss on the board against Canada though. |

Nice to see Foerster produce with elite linemates.
Flyers really need to draft somebody like Kent Johnson. - Tomahawk
I liked Johnson during the juniors, but there were times I had to wonder whether some of the stuff he was doing is going to go over in the NHL. I think he has enough hockey sense to adapt, but time will tell.
If somehow the Flyers win the lottery (select Bedard) AND Hayes/Atkinson somehow disappear in a Marvel blip...

I am willing to watch that lineup struggle a bit until they fix the defense.
