Thanks Carol!
Great Flames blog. Treliving continues to scrap for his life, it wasn’t looking good for him or his team but he picked himself up and made the team even better. His contract is up and I heard someone say he might be a replacement for Bettman, not sure if that’s true or not.
Just saw some new D rankings, had Weegar 16 and good ole Tanev ranked 30th. That was a great steal from the Canucks. Tanev has proven to be a great mentor for the Flames young D, wouldn’t be suprized to see him with a letter on his jersey. Canucks still looking for that stud right shot D and we got 2 from them, the other being Rasmus Andersson. Benning couldn’t see the forest through the trees, but some still refer to him as a “good hockey man”.
Look forward to the Young Stars in Penticton be great to see what the teams have coming up.

They can't afford both. Not with Myers and OEL still on the team. Doesn't leave much for Pouty, either.

Wouldn’t it be just fitting that Flames now capped themselves out to sign Weegar and he comes to Canucks.

Appreciate the Flames post Carol.
Honestly what are the (real) chances Miller is still a Canuck in the (immediate) future?

- geta02it

Very solid. Top 9 solid.

A D of Hanifin Andersson
Weegar Tanev
Kylington Zadorov
Mackey Meloche
Valimaki
There might still be a trade brewing.

Flames will be decent reg. season but it's the time of the Oil now that Avs window has closed.

I think if they suck the first 20 games....and not trending to playoffs they start letting teams know they will take offers on JTM+ anyone else and will retain or take back an expiring contract to get more assets.

BH they might sign either way depending.

I don't think they will standby and accept a slow start.

- canucksfan1944

Their position just gets weaker and weaker as far as trading JTM goes. When he had a season and a half and 2 playoffs under contract, they held out. Position got weaker. When he had a full season and 1 playoffs, they held out. Position got weaker. Currently most of his potential trade partners are filling their JTM need in other ways using up assets and cap space, position gets weaker. If he starts the season a Canuck, position gets weaker.... the closer to the TDL he gets... position gets weaker.... from last TDL on, their position steadily got weaker and that's only going to change if something specific develops with a team in the right position at the time... something you absolutely cannot count on and a long shot at best to get the kind of return people have been wishfully desiring. This seasons playoffs are now the priority.... why? because their position increasingly got weaker.

Good news is this team will make the playoffs with him and the rest of the core intact.... this season. After Miller walks , I have no confidence in this teams future as a contender. The Vancouver Middlers.

Too early to tell. NFL is a different beast. See how he plays out this season. Remember Casey Printers?

He says a lot of things and is he the GM or owner?

What do you think is going to happen if an unsigned Miller is still on the Canucks at the TDL and the team is well within a playoff slot at the time and playing well? Do you honestly think the owner is going to say "sell sell sell!!"? Not a fkn chance. They already gave us a preview of what will happen last TDL when they were in reach of a playoff position but still a long shot. Narrative switched to these guys deserve a chance.

You forget who these people work for.

I'd love to know their plan for not just this season, but future seasons as well, we had enough of the plan-that-wasn't-a-plan by Benning where he tilted at windmills all the time. They have Miller and Horvat to sign this year and then next off-season Pouty is up and is going to want to have a contract on the level of superstar forwards like Draisaitl/Matthews/McDavid/Huberdeau/Tkachuk etc. If they plan on staying the course and signing Miller long term, they BETTER make the playoffs or else Pouty's not going to want to stay on a team that's nowhere near able to compete with the best in the West.

He’s only signed for this year and an option for next year, I heard the lions are trying to lock him in for big money for cfl standards, even upping his salary for this year.

Exactly FA is still in control no matter what folks believe. This dream of the big JTM deal is bloody outstanding

Always possible. But if NFL teams start showing interest early it changes everything.

Hard to believe he wasn’t drafted by the NFL. To short maybe, I seen some lineman blocking a few of his passes this year.

You nailed it... the dream. He may still get traded... but the big return which we can go back and repost the water fall of ridiculous packages people were expecting... is no longer the dream... its shifting to something disappointing bit by bit. You can see it by todays posts even.... now a sweetener and taking a bad contract is a solution... well... where have we seen that masterful GMing before?

AFAIK he wasn't drafted by any NFL team, so likely he'll never be considered for QB1 and unless it's the Seahawks (admittedly do need a QB1 desperately), he's likely going to end up either on the practice squad or at best QB3 and maybe QB2 on any other NFL team. He'd be better off to stay in the CFL with the Lions and win a boatload of MOPs/MOCs and Grey Cups and retire a legend rather than as a middling journeyman QB in the NFL.

Eventually the narrative could be using him to get in and have a shot in the playoffs then letting him walk to create cap space for EP was the best return available. This is a very big possibility. Give the possibility they may decide that some honest thought before you brush it off... pressure from the owner may have big influence on this happening.

So you think they would sacrifice a good season and playoffs by moving him even if the return was just a late 1st round pick... say in the 22oa to 32oa region?

So the bet is it's 0% chance. So if management was offered a low ball offer at best, they would still risk the entire season and playoffs for that offer no matter how low it is.... seems like a safe bet for me. Now figuring out where this management draws the line(my position) vs your position there is no line... is the tough part here. That would probably be revealed after the dust settles in interviews. Maybe not since the truth could be very damaging...

Also a poor bet for you is the chance which he could be on IR as TDL approaches and passes... which is a reasonable chance for any player on the team... but you have that at 0%....

Not really what I said....unless he's hurt there will 100% be a team that wants to add miller as a rental. He could push a team over the top.

i said earlier if they suck, he's gone no matter what. If they are on the bubble, they offer what they think, if he says no they trade him for the best offer (and there would be good offers even as a rental, look what foligno and others got that suck. Miller is good).

Id they are cruising and on pace for playoffs they will work to get a deal done with Miller and come closer to his ask to keep the team together even if it means they have cap issues next year to clean up.

So a 0% chance he walks for nothing. Either signed or traded.

The backlash and optics would be too poor if they did it again after losing Markstrom, Tanev, Toffoli for nothing.

You said two sentences not two or three paragraphs that contradict your two sentences.

Anyways, there are scenarios where he is still on the team when TDL passes and that doesn't mean he gets signed... on the contrary, it means more and more likely he walks... it's a fantasy that he makes it past TDL and signs with the Canucks.... not 0% chance he walks.... wake the (frank) up.
