I was thinking about that type of deal as well.
But not for the Islanders, more like a cup contender like Colorado, NYR, Carolina, etc.
I’d be tempted to include TML, but don’t think they have much to offer in terms of assets. - dbot
Rutherford wants to A) make the playoffs and B) create cap space. Retaining salary accomplishes the opposite. They aren’t interested in futures for JTM. They want to trade JT for a young D or center and use the added cap space to further fix our defence. They won’t retain. What they are trying to accomplish is close to impossible which is why there hasn’t been movement. They should lower the bar |

It goes against every message they have delivered. I guess we shall see. Or maybe not as we probably just lose him as a UFA |

It is probably best this way. Can't have teams taking advantage of you |

It's an end of season retention that can squeeze him onto a top team or a Benning type of team.
Obviously you'd rather deal with Benning, but top teams still have some top young talent. |

People don't want to consider the reality of the situation. The best offers for Miller have passed. Holding out was a gamble.

Retaining at TDL it is a real possibility to a contender to get us more assets. If they man up and move him if he wont sign something reasonable.

Ya i travelled with soem aussies, some poop rubs off. I guess you were talking the bcgeu strike i your own vague way?! Wont effect much other than where restaurants get their liqiur orders. They are playig hardball underpaid workers, nothing new. - neem55
unless they are using direct deliver BC product, there isn’t an alternative. Also, private stores all get the same booze as government stores from the same government warehouses. |

The Landeskog and Nichushkin contracts will age very badly. Just look at the Sharks deals in the past few years. Hopefully these new AGm’s will shine a light on this never ending trend. - Shuswap Wap
I'd be fine with a decade of sucking if we won the cup. |

Jay Beagle's best season since signing that deal is 3 goals and 13 points in 57 games.
Lordy, can you stop defending that deal? It's a horrible contract. We traded a 1st round pick last year in part to trade it. Took on part of the OEL deal to boot.
We paid him 3M per year to be a 4th line C on a bottom dwelling team........FOR 4 YEARS!!! |

It was a bad deal for sure.
Unfortunately, contract signings of 3rd liners,, under 5 million, are celebrated and called good contracts. |

Better than signing him to a Benning deal. |

lol tell you what...since you are so triggered by it all I'll stop defending it when the Nucks get further in the PO's 'without' the Beags. Or maybe we would have been better off keeping Gaunce |

Gf and I at the game with my parents, my mom couldn't handle OT so she ran to the bathroom. She met Bedards mom and sister in there, also hiding out of nervousness, they got to celebrate the goal together |
