Irrelevant.
Who are you talking about? - furio16
Right. The buyout of Lindblom was a mistake but it was recoverable. Grier made a highly questionable move by replacing Balcers with Lindblom. Balcers should have been kept. He had a better season than Lindholm and is a year younger and cheaper. Fletcher could have recovered by signing Balcers. Florida signed Balcers for $750k. |

The article also states that the Flyers were the team with the fourth highest number of fan respondents with over a 1000 respondents. - The_Journeyman
Yeah, the fans are almost universally pissed off.

He is also only 27, so that changes the goalposts a bit as well. I know people are going to try to compare it to JVR but it is really a somewhat different situation. - MBFlyerfan
His age doesn’t matter to me as it is an expiring contract. Coming off an injury. Calgary needed to move him fast.
Add in hasn’t been productive. JVR whole overpaid still gives you something. |

Well, the hip surgeries probably have something to do with that.
To me age does matter. A 27 year old player vs a 33 year old player. His age would most certainly factor in on whether a team would want to resign him.

Emil is so good it’s insane. Not just his offense, but my god what a defensive play by him coming back to stop a breakaway off of his partners turnover. Wow |

Correct.
I meant how long are they considered prospects once they turn pro. - furio16
I think a player can be in the AHL for a year or so but once they make an NHL team. Not sure a player can still be called a prospect at that point. Then it's a question of how good of an NHL player he develops into.

Yeah, who needs 40 goal, 115 point scorers anyway. Certainly not the Flyers. - Feanor
i never understood arguments like this when it only happened once, and is considered an outlier when looking at his careers stats. but thats me.....just like johnny hockey. not worth his contract. not speaking about kadri's contract, just when they are paid or what not due to one career year. See Cheechoo.

I am not talking about re-signing him at all. Just the trade value of his expiring contract.

Yeah but in fairness Gaudreau does have seasons of 99 and 84 points. Yes its not 115 but those kinds of years get a player paid.
As for Kadri, yes, he is a 50-60 point player over his career. That gets you 7 million. Overpaid for sure but I guess not in comparison to other players with similar point totals.

We shall see if Chuck gets embarrassed again.
Is he expected to play or LTIR all year? As that def changes the compensation. - furio16
rather have the draft picks than Monahan.
Why would Chuck get embarrassed?

And what does Huberdeau have? Tkatchuk has one huge year, very similar to Kadri |

Yeah, a thousand people offering their opinion, that identify as Flyers fans, pretty much universally agree that they're the worst and have no hope as they are currently managed. The public, or non-Flyers fans responses agree. Must be a coincidence.

Best years were 92 and 78 before the 115 year.
10.5 seems like a lot, and it is.
But when Matthews signs for 14 or 15 million aav in two years, it wont seem like so much in context.

When they clean out the front office, are they hiring from within?
First step after firing Fletcher is tell Clarke, Holmgren and Barber thank you for everything but you're no longer a part of this organization. We'd love for you to be involved in public or alumni functions but other than that. Your services are no longer needed. - MJL
This!! All of this! I'm not sure who they hire to fill these positions but it can't be worse than the five folks that we have in the office right now.
Maybe Danny briere will surprise all of us and be a great GM? Outside of him I honestly don't even know who to hire. We missed out on Zito, imo |

They don't need to replace senior advisors. They're not needed. Dean Lombardi can go also. I see no evidence that he is supplying the same level of competence he did when he was LA's GM. I've given my thoughts on Briere previously. I don' believe the organization would tolerate someone new not buying into the Flyer way. So if Briere isn't telling them that they're all clueless and they need to change. Then he's out also. No need to keep the status quo with just a different guy at the helm.
They need new blood across the board and don't keep anyone linked to the current regime.
