Also, given the “old boys” take that some have of this team, how in the world can someone like Clarke and Holmgren (as influential as they may be), two men who absolutely loved and respected “Mr Snider”, allow this to happen? Shouldn’t we expect them to be railing against the destructive ownership and governorship of Comcast and Scott? - mikeyo27
Why would they rail against their own philosophy of building and running an NHL team?

I think it is. 2-3 years after a draft, normally a player that is a potential top 6 player is either in pushing for the NHL or is no longer deemed as such. Barring serious injury. - MJL
If no injuries. 3 years as a pro for a junior player he then needs to be in the NHL. If not he likely wont be.
What about college players who play 3 or 4 years? What is their curve?

Do you believe he will get 40 goals and 115 points in Columbus this coming year? - Glak18
Depends on if he is playing with Laine or Voracek. Laine will get him assists, Voracek will get him goals.
I see him getting 85 points.

Not so much railing against the philosophy but the breakdown of a public trust and dedicated fan base which they, along with their teammates and Ed built over the course of decades. I see there are multiple ways to look at it, so that’s what my point was. How pathetic the public, media and fan perception is of this once proud franchise, now relegated to pariah on par with a team in the desert playing at a college arena. |

I think the point is that due to their influence on how the team is run, Clarke and Holmgren are culpable here. They're partly responsible and are part of the problem.
Trust has broken down because the team stinks and there isn't much hope currently.

Lost their entire talented young core, replaced them with a slightly older but equally talented core, and didn't give up anything from the cupboard to make it all happen.
That's GM Brad showing dummies like Chuck how a retool is done. |

It seems to me that top college players who wind up as quality top 6 NHL players don't stay in college for the full 4 years.
So if we go back 3 drafts, how many top 6 potential players for a team is average?

Yeah, who needs 40 goal, 115 point scorers anyway. Certainly not the Flyers. - Feanor
Yea, Kadri and Huberdeau only combined for 200 points last year. They are in big trouble…. |

The fanbase is pissed - Tomahawk
Well let's think about it for a minute. The offseason has included a fan favorite and useful player who is also a cancer survivor being bought out, while a racist, homophobe and useless goon were brought in.
Throw in the farcical Farabee and Brink injuries, the Ellis situation it goes on and on. This franchise is nothing more than a punchline. |

Flyers ownership and the country club doesn’t care one iota about an article from the Athletic.
They have their own internal numbers that tell them what they want to hear. Just like the so called analytics department. The same department that green lights trades/extensions like Risto and signs Deslauriers.
The rabbit hole of denial runs deep in this organization. It’s nearly hopeless. |

Been fun watching GMs this summer that actually have some creativity when it comes to building a roster. |

Correct.
I meant how long are they considered prospects once they turn pro.

We shall see if Chuck gets embarrassed again.
Is he expected to play or LTIR all year? As that def changes the compensation.

Imo the Habs hope that he gets healthy so that they can move him at the deadline.

Haha! Yeah that’s a great point! Maybe they have no fundamental principles after all, which leads to wildly inconsistent behavior. |

He is also only 27, so that changes the goalposts a bit as well. I know people are going to try to compare it to JVR but it is really a somewhat different situation.

The article also states that the Flyers were the team with the fourth highest number of fan respondents with over a 1000 respondents.
