You want example of a “steal” contract?
Go look at what the record selke 5 time winner just signed. That’s a “steal” now compare it to slightly above average coots - Stayin alive
Bergeron has always played for less than his value, but to use this contract when he's at the end of his career and has already made close to $100 million is ridiculous. |

You have no concept of the NHL salary market. Bergeron signed a one year 35+ bonus laden contract at 37 years of age and what potentially could be his final season. Versus an expiring UFA who was 29. Just more evidence of how clueless you are.

I am just curious who he is making better as I dont see it as it translates to points.
Ex selke is the wring fit for where this team is currently. I hope he has 100 points and they finish 8-13 range. This is what this organization deserves. - hello it's me 2050
He’s not making anyone better
When it comes down to it good players with good players make each other better.
Coots playing with g/Jake made him better. And surely coots did somewhat make them better.
But who’s the focal point
G
Coots
Jake
Anyone answering coots please see a dr
Point is who is coots playing with this year?
He’s an albatross contract that will kill flyers for years to come. Same as others on team.
Trying to defend any contract on this team is just dumb. |

The article linked gave evidence that it was Couturier that made Giroux better. Not the other way around.

I’m not. You asked. I gave answer.
Again I project 22 goals 30 assist 52 points.
You on other hand will NOT put in writing what YOU project his totals will be.
I also added he will do squat to “help” team. This team sucks with or without coots. They will finish bottom 3. Won’t score 200 goals.
Put your $ where your big fraud mouth is and put it down in writing.
You won’t because you know you are wrong.
That coots isn’t getting anywhere near 30 goals or 70 points. And this team sucks.
But that doesn’t fit your narrative of how much a steal coots deal is and how much he makes wingers better.
Fraud - Stayin alive
These are completely separate issues and theyre what you fail to separate. Who gives a rat;s ass what you project or what others project. ask your wife to call her cousin's housekeeper to have Coutorier's nanny's gynocologist to explain the game to you

Why isnt Chuck building around ex selke? Had an elite player fall into his lap during free agency and he passed. Once again no plan and direction.
Get to watch CCII wallow away his career. Though it was by choice. |

is interesting that G was a consistent linemate over the past couple of years. yes for a short tint he tk and oscar played well. but that was tried again with lesser results.

He simply cannot grasp that. He keeps making comparison to Bergeron, as if that is actually part of the discussion. The athletic article links details how Couturier is in fact a 1C and how he makes the players he plays with better. He'll counter with the Flyers aren't going to be a good team. As if that in any way refutes the argument given on Couturier as an individual player. He has actually posted numerous times that Couturier blows.

Those players are in the tops of the league. Stone may very well be the best all around winger in the league. Gardiner has always been a high analytics player but sheltered. - MJL
Neither Gardiner nor Gallagher are anywhere near "the top of the league". No one starts Stone over Pasta, Kucherov, Marner, or Kane.
Things like all round player, goes against top opposing players, makes teammates better etc, imo, are secondary attributes that should not intrude into the primary criterion for a 1c. To be considered really good, that center needs to be an offensive threat every time he is on the ice, and have a good chance to outscore his opponents. He needs to have a little bit of the 'scary' factor.
The other attributes can be important tie-breakers, but if I have a choice between Danny Briere/Matthew Barzal in a playoff game,or Sean Couturier, I would start the former at 1c.
(Btw, talking about secondary attributes, Couturier blows on the pp. Uncreative and static. Poor user of open space. Never gets free between the seams to get a shot off the way Point does). |

Why? A contract is a contract.
And his new contract is the definition of “steal”
Coots however is example of horrible🤷♂️ |

Not sure if this was mentioned cause I ain't back reading on all these comments, but I heard something rather comical occurred at Voorhees, N.J. this past weekend. Apparently JG was playing in a charity hockey tournament and someone had a sign telling the Flyers to FIRE CHUCK FLETCHER! Apparently JG autographed the sign. Can't make this shiit up! FIRE CHUCK! Thanks! |

Ummmm, Gardiner and Gallagher are in the tops of the league in those analytic statistical categories at the time. Again, Stone when healthy is without a doubt one of the top wingers in the league. High scoring and dominant away from the puck. Stone has finished in the top 12 in Hart trophy voting 5 times. Finished in the top 5 in Selke trophy voting 5 years in a row, including 3 times the runner up before having injury issues last season. Perhaps you are unaware of just how good of a player Mark Stone is. Your last statement above is conjecture

A player like Couturier outscores his opposition while playing against the top players in the league. You may not find it scary, but other teams do.
The other attributes can be important tie-breakers, but if I have a choice between Danny Briere/Matthew Barzal in a playoff game,or Sean Couturier, I would start the former at 1c.
- PT21
I wouldn't. I would start Couturier at 1C, let him hold the other teams top line in check if I can get the matchup. Then use players like Briere or Barzal away from other teams top lines and get a better matchup for them, making them even more effective. I'm confident that most coaches would do the same.
(Btw, talking about secondary attributes, Couturier blows on the pp. Uncreative and static. Poor user of open space. Never gets free between the seams to get a shot off the way Point does). - PT21
I think it's fair to say that Couturier is not a great PP performer but I would disagree that he blows on the PP. He has had seasons with 7 and 8 PP goals.
He had 7 PP goals in 17/18. Which put him in the top 56 in the league. For reference, players such as Marner, Sheifele, Marchand and Kucherov had 8 that year. Crosby had 9
He put up 8 PP goals in 18/19. Putting him in the top 46 in the league. More than players such as Forsberg, Kreider, Panarin, Guentzel and Gaudreau to name a few.
It's also fair to note that for many years, Couturier did not get first unit PP time. |

Ok bud. Let me guess. Bergy deal isn’t a steal because he’s 37. No one would’ve gave him a 1 year deal close to what he took.

Show me where I said the Bergeron contract wasn't a good deal? Actually there are elements of the contract that actually aren't good for Boston. However that deal individually for Bergeron irrespective of the cap issues involved, is surely a steal.
