I'm not making a big deal out of one game. This is a cumulative thing with the fact being that the Flyers haven't had a highly touted prospect at the World juniors in what seems like forever. They just have non descript role players on these teams that do very little at the NHL level. Point being that the Flyers have very few prospects to get excited about and that's a very bad thing when the NHL roster is as putrid as their roster currently is.
- Phillywhiteout

I would disagree. They just drafted a player with the 5th overall pick.

Bill,

Why isn't Cutter Gauthier playing in the world juniors?

Continuing of what was being said on the last blog of Morgan Frost. I am in no shape or form a Morgan Frost fan. He came in a trade I believe shouldn’t have happened when we shipped out Brayden Schenn and has left little Optimism. I do however see Morgan Frost’s value to the organization. He’s the only playmaking center with the highest upside coming through the pipeline line currently. So make no mistake, after the failure of Nolan Patrick, we need Morgan Frost to succeed. We need him in the top nine (not the fourth line). We need him in the NHL, not being sent down for reasonings not being made public to the fans. With all of this said, we need improvement across the board of our young talent. Ivan Provorov, Travis Konency, Joel Farabee, Owen Tippett and Carter Hart are all 25 years of age or younger. They all need to take titanic steps forward.

While I agree with the general sentiment re the young players, Provorov and TK are veteran players going into their 7th NHL season. I think what you see is what you are gonna get when it comes to those 2.

It's the U20, not the U18.

The only 2022 draft pick on Team USA's roster is Cooley.

Fun in the summer sun Part 2: the defense…Listen, I have no information on the health of Ellis. If it bothers you that he was included in the the goal scoring projection, just make his 8 into a 0 and move on. That said, this is just like the forwards yesterday. It does not assume a healthy lineup, but rather is based on expected games played. In the case of Ivan Provorov, that happens to be 100%.

Provy - 11
Sanheim - 7
DeAngelo - 10
Ellis (inj. ) - 8
Risto - 4
York - 5
Braun - 3
Seeler - 0

1. On each of these Flyer’s defensemen, would you bet the “over” or “under” on goals scored in the upcoming ’22-‘23 season?
2. Based on what you expect each of them to score, would your total for the d-core be more or less?

Of course there is. This is another overreaction.
- MJL

No there isn’t. These kids all playing scoring roles for there perspective teams. In this tournament they might not be counted on to be PPG games, but In a blow out, where all lines are rolling, and the team wins 11-1. It’s a bit discouraging for our guys not to factor in.

Yes there is. We know from the blog that Foerster played 12 minutes in the game. That's not a lot of ice time. What else do we know from the blog? We know that McTavish figured in 6 of the 11 goals. Which is more than half. Did Foerster play with McTavish? That leaves 5 other goals. One of which Foerster assisted on. So he did factor in. One line was obviously the dominant scoring line. What would be more relevant? How did Foerster actually play? It's one game and a similar overreaction to Frost apparently not saying the right things to appease some of the fans in an interview.

Interesting, do you think York’s total is right on or higher? Do you know how many goals Sanheim scored last season?

Yeah the under 25 is not a real indication. Look at NHL age. Same with Sanheim.

Is there maybe another gear there that the coach can untap? We shall see.

Both have under performed for a couple seasons now imo. Both can use a change of scenery.

I think both can use better coaching and a better team around them. Along with their own individual improved play.

Close, like 6-8 goals from him. He shoots a lot, will probably get PP1 time at some point.

Agree with the coaching to an extent. Though has every coach who has come through the turnstile been bad?

Every player wants better players around them. Myself think they both need a change.

So there were 5 goals, 5, outside of one line. That’s a lot man, did you think that makes your point stronger haha.

There's 3 lines outside of the 1 line. 5 goals divided by 3.

My guess for goals by D:

Provy - 7
Sanheim - 6 will be higher if he finally gets some significant pp time
DeAngelo - 7
Ellis (inj. ) - 0 I’ll be shocked if he ever plays again
Risto - 4
York - 6
Braun - 2
Seeler - 0
Attard - 2 he’ll be up as soon as they inevitably start moving players or injuries hit
Zamula - 0 I doubt he gets into more than 5-7 games

Maybe but I don’t see Provorov meshing well with TDA so I think he might improve a bit over last year but not a whole lot. As far as TK goes, if Couts stays healthy and he’s TK’s center, than yeah, he’ll put up better numbers but he still is what he is, a good 2RW.
