Yes, at the time I thought it was unfair but after last season and this off-season, I am joining the party, Fletcher should be removed.

With so little hope….so many questions…and a dark cloud hanging over the entire organization….wouldn’t it be nice if the Flyers actually are a much better team then they are getting credit for. In this dream, everything would have to break their way including but not limited too a healthy Ryan Ellis, a break out Morgan Frost, a healthy Sean Couturier, a 2020 version of Carter Hart and Travis Konecny and several young guys surprising with actual legitimate contributions beyond a good shift here or there…one in a million ? so your saying there’s a chance. The one saving grace is the Flyers haven’t been what they were supposed to be the last decade….maybe it can work the opposite way?

Something positive..... the LOGO is great, Gritty is great, and the team colors are great.

Team colors were always the best in the league to me, though I must say I am loving the Kraken uniforms also.

I like that the lack of cap space is gonna force the team to play some kids.

Will it though? If no one else gets hurt between now and opening night (lol), then I would expect the team to take on the Devils would have only one player aged under 23 - York.

JVR-Couturier-Konency
Laughton-Hayes-Atkinson
Cates-Frost-Tippett
Deslauriers-Brown-MacEwen

Sanheim-Risto
Provorov-TD
York-Braun

Maybe Ratcliffe can keep Zack 3.0 on the bench, but that would disappoint all the home fans who paid just to see him bring the NRG.

No...they need to be as bad as possible to secure a top 3 pick. It will be franchise ALTERING

I was hoping we could try something different today and pick a couple things we do like about this team.
- SuperSchennBros

1-The Flyers haven’t lost a game is nearly 3 1/2 months;

2-No Flyers player was significantly injured in the last few days;

3-Gritty

Seriously, there are a few things:
1-Really enjoyed the line of Cates, Frost, Tippett - potential to be a fun line

2-Torts really was born to be a Flyers HC. If the team is the disaster (many of us including myself think) his pressers will be amazing. If they surprise and play really well, Torts becomes a star.

3-Carter Hart is still young with a lot of promise. Maybe a Torts installed system helps him regain his confidence and form and he grows in to that upper echelon goalie we all hope for.

4-On a negative note but something I like, I do like the fact that the fans have all come to the point where we are done accepting mediocrity, misdirection and seeming lack of a plan. The building won’t be full if the product on the ice is as expected and maybe that will bring about change.

I like the Torts hiring.
Can he break the spell of coaches not lasting long here? I have my doubts.
I like that York, Frost, Tippett should be regulars in the line up.
Looking forward to seeing what kind of impact Torts has on Hart, Provy, Konecny, Sanheim.

I don't even know why I bother, but here it goes. Torts to me, or at least my impression of him, was someone who put himself ahead of his teams. All the fighting with the press, attacking another team's locker room, and the yelling and swearing at the players between periods when the cameras are on are examples. It was all about him, not the players or the team. Therefore I labeled him a clown-show and was against the Flyers hiring him. I thought there were much better options. When he got hired I, like most fans, listened to his pressers and his many interviews, and started to see a different side to him. I liked what I heard in terms of his philosophy and how he likes to conduct business. He seems to be really passionate about not just coaching again, but coaching the Flyers and I started to think that maybe his coaching style and passion really fits well with the Flyers and the fan base. So there is my explanation. Its hard to like anything about this team, but I am willing to go into the season liking Torts and seeing how he does.
- jd250

So you ignored the success he has had as a coach and just focused on his personality in interviews and pressers? This shows a repeated pattern of misreading press conferences on your part. Either by a coach or a GM.

Can’t disagree that it looks like the top three in the draft next year all look like elite talent….god knows the Flyers are screaming for that.

Only took what, over two years? It's more like being forced to join rather than choosing to join.

It's not going to happen. That's a dichotomy of hiring Torts. He will push them kicking and screaming to be better than they really are.

A coach can only do so much and can't overcome a lack of talent. Barring injuries and better health though, along with the coaching improvement. Hopefully, should result in the team probably being around the 25th overall range.

Unlike you, who had it in for Fletcher right from the very beginning because he replaced your hero and for what he represented, I gave Fletcher a fair chance. But now its clear to me, he doesn't have a plan and he is single handedly killing this team for the next decade unless he alters his approach. My hope is the team fails, Fletcher is fired by February and a new GM comes in to execute a fire sale at the deadline. The Flyers need to rebuild IMO and this 2023 is the draft to do it!

For all the people who want younger guys to play should be happy that a player like Felix will have his shot. Time to see what he can do as he was very highly thought of at one time.

He needs to beat out the AHL vet. If he cant then bye bye Felix.

Why?

I realize it is extremely likely; however, what part of it do you identify as the positive? Why is this position positive in your opinion?

good read on Hayes

https://theathletic.com/3...-john-tortorella-2022-23/

So it isn’t just blind optimism driving the Flyers’ internal hope that Hayes will be a far more effective version of himself this season as compared to the entirety of last. But (presumably) better health won’t be the only difference for Hayes this time around. He’ll also have a new coach in John Tortorella.

And his relationship with Hayes is going to be an interesting one to watch.

Tortorella, in his first press conference as head coach of the Flyers, made it clear that pushing Hayes to new heights will be one of his top priorities as a coach. In fact, he was the one player who Tortorella brought up by name in that regard.

“I’m really interested in talking to Kevin. Kevin is one I’m anxious to work with because I think there’s more there,” Tortorella explained. “I think he’s a huge piece of the puzzle up the middle of the ice for this organization. He’s one I’m going to try to talk with right away. I’m going to be interested in what he has to say. I hear he’s a tremendous guy. I want to try to help him, because if I can help him and make him understand we’re going to try to get him to another level … what does he do for the Flyers organization up the middle of the ice? I’ve watched from afar and there’s more there. It’s my responsibility to try and get that out of him.”

Your characterization that I had it in for Fletcher from the very beginning is not accurate. Your repeated attempts to try to make everything about Hextall continues to be asinine. Your new stance on Fletcher is not genuine. It is not knowledge based. It's simply you giving in because you know you can no longer support your misguided opinions. It took literally multiple years to beat it into you what the reality was. Every debate you and I have had, has ended in the same manner. Unlike you, I never hope for the team to fail. The Flyers should've been rebuilding during Fletcher's entire tenure. You were told that repeatedly. For literally years.
