Waddell said it happened this past weekend. They had him fly in to meet the training staff and do an on-ice workout with a couple guys and he was fine.
Then over the weekend he was doing a routine workout and felt the pain. Got checked out right away and... yep. I doubt this is a cap circumvention thing. Losing Patches means they don't really have anyone replacing Niederreiter now. |

Then over the weekend he was doing a routine workout and felt the pain. Got checked out right away and... yep. I doubt this is a cap circumvention thing. Losing Patches means they don't really have anyone replacing Niederreiter now.

technically the canes got him for free though, but yeah I guess they were counting on his offensive contribution and thus hadn't really looked at other options...
