Half those trades were arguably "ties" which is what a trade is supposed to be. Jokiharju is a 7th on a good team. The Murphy trade was a win not a loss...

Ties in that both teams lost, Joki sucks and the Murhpy trade is still a winner.

In hopes to get a better gripe on reality until after the 2023 Lottery drawing, I have decided to not say or type the name of the kid with the remarkable shot and release who I (we) would like playing for the Blackhawks.
I just feel like my constant preoccupation with him and his own superstitious nature is going to jinx us.
I will try not use Voldemort's "He should shall not be named..." verbiage, and am gonna try and not comment any more about him. 'nuff, said, Stan!

I don't want this to be similar to the one Christmas when I was 11, and my parents got me a gas flying (you flew it in circles because there weren't radio controls like now) and it wasn't the one I hinted I wanted, and my spoiled brat attitude was angry and dejected at the loving gift.

So I am not saying it and will be happy with who we get later if we do not draft first.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I’m going into the 22/23 season and 23 draft expecting the Hawks will draft 3rd over (plus a mid-20s pick from Tampa). Bedard is obviously the goal, but I’m judging KDs moves based on the Hawks drafting Fantilli.

Best case scenario is the Hawks have a 39% chance of drafting first (if worst record in the league). But we know the Hawks will have a lesser chance because Bettman will make sure to tell the ref's to fix some games so the Hawks come in about 6th worst. (PE conspiracy theory) RED RED FONT

So we have to concern ourselves with human driven conspiracy theories and according to Wiz we now have to worry about divine conspiracy theories. With all the various conspiracy theories do the Hawks have any chances at all?

Lehner will miss the entire 22/23 season due to hip surgery. That’s a big blow for Vegas, but it helps their cap situation.

Me thinks they will hav e to select second then.

BTW, the chances are over 50% that the lowest team drafts third....

I think at this point who cares.....I dont believe in divine intervention or conspiracies. There are NO Jinxes...>Bedard....Bedard.....Bedard.....say it again...who cares.

Hawks should be in the running for the chance to select him. Outside of that, the only other 2 things I remotely care about are IF/WHEN Toews and Kane can be dealt (what comes back) AND the development of prospects....but again do any NHL kids on the roster have a chance of STILL being HERE in 5-6 years when this team is back in contention? No idea. So should I lose my mind if Reichel busts out? Just another hole that has to be filled.

I have given up hope of Murphy or McCabe being dealt as I read an article from Powers that makes sense on how they need both to fill a position and eat minutes, so the kids don't lose confidence and kill their development. SO, I'll stomach watching captain America of the JV world squad run around and blow himself up and be on the IR no later than MLK day and not care...because it really doesn't matter. This team isn't going to win or be in contention.

The only chance of trading Jones at any point will be a combination of the cap going up by a significant amount AND Jones asking out.... both are possible but even then, that whole situation is at least 4 years away.

It's not a negative reaction...it's just separating the emotional attachment for a few years because I am 95% sure outside of maybe Jones there isn't a player who will play on this roster THIS year who may still be an important piece for this team when/if everything hits the same way it did back in 2007-08 and the window to win opens up.

Always find it curious how these teams miss these medical mishaps early on to eliminate missing a chance to fill that void.

Wonder if they would have interest in Mzarek?

Actually I am more worried about Bettman fixing the lottery than refs fixing games, but both should be a real concern.

Murphy trade is ONLY a win because Hammer is retired. Murphy is a turd and at a best a 3rd pairing D man on a legit contender.

Watch how badly he plays himself out of position this year......trying to go hunting like a Kaspiritis or Marchment and then laugh out loud when he blows himself up, lays there trying to figure out what town he's in, and then is out for an undisclosed time....it's happened every year he's been here.....for bonus points you can marvel at how badly he gets walked at the blue line.

BUt yes, he did once upon a time captain the USA JV squad at the Worlds so he's a leader....

Tugs at the heart strings seeing all these kids being affected with cancer. Girl in STL, this kid, and I am sure I am missing many, many, many more. Can't imagine navigating that as a parent and sibling. Just awful.

Back that up, Paul.

Wiz doesn't not equal conspiracy theories. Did not do it for JFK (Sherman Skullnik the same guy) or hockey or today's US reality

I have never thought
a) the Crosby draft as much as old man Wirtz was disappointed, it was not a fix...b/c the old man had more pull than even that Pittsburgh ownership, it would have been fixed towards Chicago.
b) I have never thought the draft was anything but luck after the Oilers saw no draft rules changed after being allowed to
Taylor Hall
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Nail Yakupov
all first over-all and then only THREE years later were allowed to pick McDavid first over-all.

But it was L U C K.

Where were the GM's after the second time Nugent-Hopkins, with weren't they saying there should be a rule about the same team going first more than twice in five years.

Talkathon shows the odds as Draft ! 25.5, Draft 2 18.8, Draft 3 55.7 but the average spot is 2.3 (2nd)

After Washington got the #1 Russian so late this year (but clearly not Matvei Michkov and is fighting cancer),
I bet Fantilli lace goes at slot two.

And my high respect for Russian knee surgeons and the fact that you wait until Michkov's contract with Ska st. Pete is up, you have to wonder what the new GM does...in one way he is afforded the luxury of late arrival since the team would still be in transition and the superstar they get cannot be Mose's w/o his people around him.
BUT.....I also see how the quicker / better player gets in here, the quicker the fans come back.

I dunno what I do at #3 SLOT
I LIKE BENSON AND YAGER maybe a bit too much, can Marian Hossa go play pond hockey with Eduard Šalé and let me if he fits as our new go impact scorer?

All this and I still am wondering about what "divine conspiracy theories" I am promoting.

I am not asking anyone to subscribe to my not mentioning a superstitious kid's name.
I said I am, b/c I simply cannot get the speed, accuracy of "his" 40 foot shot, and the way the guy can over flex the stick to get off such power accuracy and hate behind it.
I haven't seen this before ever, and I want it badly to be in Chicago.

The trade is a winner for the very reason it was made; early Hammer was better, late Hammer was a different and now finished player.

After seeing who drafts 1st the most interesting thing for me is who goes 2nd as I've posted. Michkov TODAY ranks a good bit ahead of Fantilli but a lot of risk drafting him. Really really interesting and something that will keep the organIzation who drafts 2nd up nights in a cold sweat trying to sort it all out.

Have I missed something? Mother Russia says Michkov is out two weeks with a knee but no mention of surgery I've seen.

Yea man, Bedard showed a freakish shot and stick bend on that curl and drag 40 footer last night v Latvia. IMO the one before it that hit the post may have been more deadly..... Kid got off 8 shots so plenty more to come from Bedard at this WJC for the NHL and fans to salivate over.

Still going to be the spoiler and believe the Hawks are going to overachieve this year giving us something in the range of the 8th to 12th pick unless Kaner, Toews and Jones are moved early on.
