Myers is a bad contract for the Bolts if he is not in the top 6. His 2.55 mil would be a 3.166 mil savings if bought out. Cernak and Foote are the only guys clearly better on the right side. It looks like the job is his if he can seize it.
- Minnyhock

Are there any free agents they may pluck in a few weeks on a 1 year league min deal?
Myers at the money he makes for the bottom pair is too much. Especially on that team.

The pressure on Myers is to stay in the NHL. That is the same regardless of what team he is on. That is undoubtedly his main focus and where the pressure comes for him. Not from pressure of winning a Cup
- MJL

No it is not the same. Playing on a team where they may give you more leeway in case of a few mistakes. Makes you more relaxed. You want to disagree have at it.

Those two players are the furthest thing from the Phil Myers situation

If you don't believe that Schenn and Bogo were "written off" before Tampa brought them in, I don't know what to tell you. The only difference is that they were more experienced and older than Myers.

I can understand TB taking a chance on the raw talent but not at that cap hit. They must see something that they like to take a chance on the player.

There is no situation where a player fighting for his career and what is likely his last chance is going to be more relaxed.

Hope Torts feels the same for entire team!!

He does.

The problem is Torts' style of play boils down to "Collapse hard in front of your own net"

You and I both know it will not be his last chance. Someone will always take a chance for the next few years.

There is a situation, I explained it. You disagree is all. He would have far less pressure on himself in Arizona than Tampa

He'll be 26 this season. Too many other fringe players and older vets. TB sees upside. Teams won't continue to see that if he fails again to earn a full time spot.

We disagree. He will get another shot if this doesn't work out imo. Size him being RH.

Do they still have a 2nd buyout window

I get what you are saying here. But you both IMO opinion are talking about external vs internal pressure.

For sure playing in Arizona vs Tampa or Montreal brings much less external pressure from media, fans etc for a player to succeed. But the pressure Myers is feeling and the pressure MJL is talking about is the pressure Myers is feeling himself from inside. He knows his career is on the line regardless of where he is playing. It may not be his last chance, but he has to know inside that he doesnt very many more a if he doesn't succeed this time around he may find himself playing in Europe in the future.

Another where the masses agreed with me. Way to avoid the question. The real estate in your head that I have is growing huh
- ClaudeFather

Wait? One person agreed with you, who turned out to be wrong but the masses agreed with you?

Original statement by me “ This is the first real team Tampa has faced in three finals”. You disagreed by offering up Dallas in the 2000 final as your argument. Tampa pummels Dallas. The Aves pummel Tampa this year. In what universe where you right?

I could see him getting another shot when his cap hit is less than a million.

Yea. Your Myers comparison with Luke Schenn and Bogo were completely irrelevant.

I am not talking about the media in any way.

He will feel more pressure trying to make Tampa knowing he needs to be perfect as they do not have time to be patient so to speak. That may effect how he plays. If he is in Arizona he will feel less pressure on himself knowing he doesn't have to be perfect per say.

In my opinion, that internal pressure is what Myers is going to feel to try and save his career. He's not going to be more relaxed because he is playing on a lesser team.

What’s interesting is when it comes down the facts or whether or not people agree with you, you use the “people agreed with me” route…whether they actually did or not

I can guarantee that the TB GM and coaches have no expectation of Myers being perfect. Think about what you're saying. What sense does it make for a team to expect that from a player who has struggled for the last two seasons?

I have to agree. It will be there regardless of what team he was on because he is thinking about his own career. He is no way can have the attitude that "Ill just get another chance down the road" if I don't do well. Whether he was playing on Tampa or Arizona would not matter.

Semantics. You clearly know the point I am making.
