Fletcher also promised an aggressive retool, said we were 2-3 players away, and noted the lack of elite talent. He either lied again, or doesn’t get it. Why should the Ellis situation be any different? - mikeyo27
Just for the record, Fletcher NEVER stated the Flyers are 2-3 players away. And for that matter, neither did Dave Scott who instead stated "2 or 3 players away, maybe more!".

Interesting ... but the Flyers didn't do this with York, but they will with Attard? Why? - jd250
Because they said they want him to mold his game after the Tampa defenseman who's name escapes me at the moment.

Bogosian and Schenn? - Tomahawk
So they slotted veterans correctly? Real
Tall task huh. Entirely different scenario than a guy who can’t stay in the NhL at 25 |

Slotting correctly is kinda the point, isn't it? I'd take Phil Myers on my 3rd-pair any day. Especially if my top-4 is rock solid. |

They played them in their proper role. Both signed for under 1 million. Don't think they were written off. Bogo def was not written off.

Nashville disagrees. Paying Phil Myers what he is making is a waste of resources on your 3rd pair.

"On February 14, 2020, the Sabres placed Bogosian on waivers. After going unclaimed, he was assigned to the Rochester Americans the following day. Three days later, Bogosian was suspended by the Sabres for failing to report to Rochester. On February 21, Bogosian was placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of a contract termination."

Not as cut and dry as you seem to think, he went on Chiclets and discussed injuries and whatnot |

You don't go from a $36M contract down to a 1-year $1.3M deal if there aren't significant questions about your health and/or overall ability.

Yea. Your Myers comparison with Luke Schenn and Bogo were completely irrelevant. |

So all players placed on waivers are because they are bad players? Bogo was at the time still an NHL level player and he has proven that the last few years. Buffalo clearly wanted to part way's with him for a variety of reasons.

Sure you do and No kidding. Father time catches up, as you said some health issues which he always had, and ability did decline. Still an NHL level player. That is why he is now a 3rd paring defenseman.

I'm not convinced he's on TB roster to start the season.
I thought he had a shot to turn it around in Nashville, but obviously he did not. - rayc16
Most certainly not guaranteed a roster spot. But looking at that D and his cap hit he certainly has the inside track imo. Probably fighting for the 6/7 with Haydn Fleury if I had to guess.

There most certainly is a such thing as a less pressurized situation. Goin to play for a team that has won 2 of the last 3 cups is more pressure than a team who hasn't won.
He only played 27 games because the Predators determined he wasn't good enough for anything more than that.
Lets see where Myers is at by the end of October. - furio16
The pressure is an individual pressure and not team related. Myers is fighting for his career. The team he is on, doesn't matter in that regard.
The Preds have a very deep core of defenseman. That was a factor.

Does it need to be explained to you that every player is different? Where was York drafted compared to Attard?
By the way, there is a informal poll taken on the Bruins thread concerning your asinine opinion that MacAvoy is not an elite player. It seems as though the Bruins fans, who live there, don't agree with you. One says you should take up golf.

Just give Brind'amour a couple months working with the guy. You either buy in and play like he did or you don't play on his team. Period. - BINGO!

He wasn't good enough in the Predator's view. He was given an opportunity. He didn't play to their satisfaction. That was/is a factor he is an ex Predator.
There is more pressure playing on a team with higher expectations than a team with lower ones. It does matter as you will put more pressure on yourself knowing it is cup or bust for this organization. |
|
|
|
Myers is a bad contract for the Bolts if he is not in the top 6. His 2.55 mil would be a 3.166 mil savings if bought out. Cernak and Foote are the only guys clearly better on the right side. It looks like the job is his if he can seize it.

The pressure on Myers is to stay in the NHL. That is the same regardless of what team he is on. That is undoubtedly his main focus and where the pressure comes for him. Not from pressure of winning a Cup
