It's August and there's been no update. - Feanor
Fletcher also promised an aggressive retool, said we were 2-3 players away, and noted the lack of elite talent. He either lied again, or doesn’t get it. Why should the Ellis situation be any different? |

Tim Kerr undrafted FA 1980
Ron Hextall 6th round 1982
Rick Tocchet 6th round 1983
It’s been awhile though - BiggE
40 years and counting.
The only real shot at one of those looked like it might be Oskar (5th round) and just then his cancer showed up derailing that trajectory. At this stage, I'm not sure we have any that could qualify as a major score. Of course, they're all apparently made of crystal and are constantly injured. |

You have no hope for a guy that played 15 NHL games right out of college for a bottom feeder of a team? I'm not saying he looked great but being yanked around the lineup paired with Seeler, Yandle, and then finally Provorov is not conducive to success. In fact, I think he had his best games paired with Provorov. Can we give the kid a full AHL season before completely writing him off? - TobyFlenderson
That's not the way this board works, Toby. If a new player isn't the 2nd coming of Crosby or McDavid within their first few games, 50% of this board will say he sux.

He was signed to an entry level deal and they were going to burn the first year so he was going to play in the NHL no matter what. I agree he looked completely outmatched at times, but there is skill there. Hopefully he can turn into a nice bottom 4, 2nd PP type guy. If anything, I'm more interested in watching guys like him and Brink and their development this year rather than the Flyers. - TobyFlenderson
We’re definitely in agreement. |

No one doubted that Luke schenn could be a limited ice time third pair player. - ClaudeFather
Your comments are odd. I don’t know how you can make comments like “nobody is surprised” or a comment like this one as if everyone automatically agrees with you. Since being here Schenn has both won two cups and played in the minors. So nobody has known what way his career is going to land. |

All signs point to Ellis never playing hockey again. - Feanor
No way. It’s early august. He ramped up training in July. Why would chuckles lie to us? |

Only you have no idea. Do Stanley cup teams not have a third pair guy that plays low minutes? Do you ever think before you type? I would say the vast majority on here never doubted that Luke Schenn could play a limited role on a hockey team. What you don’t understand is him playing 18 minutes a night here is vastly different than playing 12 minutes a night on a good hockey team. |

At least Phil Myers and Patrick both stink. Hard to fathom but this trade could feel worse . Nice job Fletch - ClaudeFather
I would have rather had those two on the roster than 4 games of ellis and wasted cap space |

Watch Myers carve out a role for himself on the 3rd pair in Tampa. He has the raw skills to be able to do it. Who knows, with a good team around him and less pressure..... - MBFlyerfan
Nashville was a good team and a less pressurized situation. They moved on from rather quick. That is a red flag.

That’s pretty obvious. Just saying it would sting even more if those two were good players. |

Haha, just completely dismissed by these folks. They literally posted the same exact thing when he went to Nashville. Nashville breeds D, watch Myers figure it out there. That aged well |

I'm not convinced he's on TB roster to start the season.
I thought he had a shot to turn it around in Nashville, but obviously he did not. |

Please, with our luck Lindros stays healthy and leads the Rangers to 4 Cups in that timeline. - BiggE
Hilarious!!
And then on this board we would be grumbling about how Farwell was terrible…

Do I think before I type? Tell me again how this coming season is absolutely make or break for Carter Hart.

There is no such thing as a less pressurized situation for a player at Myers age that has struggled and is trying to stay in the NHL. That is an extremely high pressure situation. He only played 27 games with gaps between blocks of games played. We know that a very successful team with cap issues took on a player who has struggled that has a 2.55M cap hit. Not exactly a routine move in that situation. Certainly there are red flags but there is also still talent and ability there. Likely his last shot.

I like Myers chances. We’ve seen what they can do with players who look like they’ve been written off. |

There most certainly is a such thing as a less pressurized situation. Goin to play for a team that has won 2 of the last 3 cups is more pressure than a team who hasn't won.
He only played 27 games because the Predators determined he wasn't good enough for anything more than that.
Lets see where Myers is at by the end of October.

I see Myers as more purely defensive and Attard as more purely offensive.
Honestly I think Myers has a better upside for what his role would be. - MBFlyerfan

Certainly agree with that but the fear I have is that the Flyers will completely try and remake the player and have him play as a 3rd pair stay at home defender. Make him earn offensive situation and PP ice time. - MJL
Interesting ... but the Flyers didn't do this with York, but they will with Attard? Why? |
