Pfffftt Buster Posey has nothing on Buck when he got trucked and busted his leg he got the out.....and then the 2nd out!

Here's the point I'm making - the 1985 Mariners had 5 regular position players over 200lbs (Bradley was 190, fwiw). The Yankees this year have 13; the Mariners have around 12. I don't want to take anything away from Buck's heroics in that play, but the truth is that plays like that shouldn't happen, and with the size of athletes these days, it was just going to get more and more prevalent and severe.

And when did it get so franking expensive to rent a car?
- Atomic Wedgie

Since The Rona, when people stopped traveling and the car rental companies reduced their fleets.

I've rented a lot, and I highly recommend Enterprise. In fact, they are one of the best companies for customer service that I've dealt with, period. I never rent with anyone else.

Also, always book the economy (unless you specifically need something better), because quite often they will give you something better that is sitting on the lot when you show up for the same price. Or, they will upsell you slightly and put you in something fun like a Challenger.

Also, set up your booking online, but before you finalize, change the pickup location around to a few different locations. Often the various Enterprise locations around the city have different prices for the same dates and same class of vehicle.

If you get a pickup truck, often your credit card will not cover the insurance waiver, so be aware of that.

Never be a Megadowner, and always Trust In The Shanaplan.

OK I wasn't disagreeing wtih you by the way that it's indeed an unnecessary dangerous play that was permitted in baseball far too long. My point was kind of just that Posey's preventable injury was one that had happened for a long time and probably should have been addressed well before 2011.

They never played together so no.

They both own their own Island though so they might be in the same "island owning club" or something.

So, Carey will have to choose which one he wants to spend his retirement years?

Sure.

We just have to wait and see when this actually happens.

Could be soon, could be in 2 years...

Just wish we goddamn knew.

You're absolutely right there. And I'll note that not many players have the wherewithal to keep playing with a broken leg in that play. It wasn't even a critical game - it occurred in July, and the Jays went on to win 9-4 improving their record to 51-32 - there was 78 games left to go!

With his salary back then, it inflates to about $950k. The average MLB salary in 2022 is about $4.4m.

That's just pure dedication to the job on Buck's part.

I asked it if Carey Price will play next season.

"Outlook not so good".

Sounds about right.
