The revamped analytics dept. was more of a joke….obviously not a good one.

Lets assume they are doing job. They go to Chuck and say signing RR is a bad move. Then go to him say Nic D is a bad move. Then Zac Mac.

They must either laugh or they start sending out resumes as their opinion is not valued.

I believe RR has the shot to go down as the league leading worst +- in history if I recall, Not that there are not superior stats but at some point its beyond just bad puck luck.

Plenty of unique moments since 2010, Ghosts historical season when he should have won the calder, Giroux's Hat trick game to clinch a playoff spot against the Rangers in 2018 (with the crowd chanting MVP MVP), JAGR coming to Philly over Pittsburgh for a season, Plenty of reasons I CHOOSE to still watch them, You do understand no one holds a gun to my head making me go to or watch the games right, If I didn't enjoy it I wouldn't do it. That's where the question of such animosity to this franchise comes from or why there is still such an occasion with the team if its all just negative. I absolutely miss the better teams, the coaches who I felt had a little more authority on the team (I expect some of this out of Torts), but I still choose to watch and find ways to enjoy it. 1993 Phillies are still my favorite team, I can tell you every player at every position like its the current season, They failed to win it all, but I wouldn't want to have missed that run, nor would I want to forget it happened. It was fun, entertaining and just absolutely great times.

To each his own but you keep coming up with small miniscule moments in the big picture. I don't recall stating or insinuating that you've been forced to watch.

When was the last time with the Flyers that there was sustained fun, entertaining and great times? A long time ago.

The Flyers have not been worth watching for the last 10 years. It's very easy to pinpoint. It was the Pens series in the 2012 playoffs (the last game we attended was game 4 of that series). They've really been no fun since that series. Other than that little blip before the pandemic shutdown they have basically sucked. Before that, they were generally a watchable team and at least had a chance to win it all with the exception of some down periods( late 80's early 90's come to mind). That being said, I have NEVER felt like this about an upcoming season. I don't even know when camp starts and when their first preseason game is. I know the regular season starts the first week of October cause people have mentioned it on here. I haven't even looked at their schedule....not a glance. It really is terrible to feel this way about a team that you have rooted for since you were 10 years old. I just simply don't care. FIRE CHUCK! Thanks!

I admit to wondering how I can stay attached to this team.
I live in Tampa Bay and have obvious recourse to watching this team flounder.
I stay aboard because this is MY team.
The only team I follow in all of sports.
My fandom, my choice.
I don't defend this as a wise one. I have abandoned (as much as possible) feelings, faith, and beliefs to make pragmatic decisions. It works better for me.
Remaining a Flyers fan is not pragmatic or wise, it is an emotional decision.
Maybe it's just a kink for Orange And Black?
Bound by a lengthy history and strong affection, I don't want to leave and of course, I won't.
I am annoyed, however. It is time for the 'reset'. Clean out the cupboards, replace the utensils and start serving up better teams. This has been a poor diet, lacking nutrients and bulk.
I will now listen to the Blues and get my suffering pinned down.

Being a fan of a franchise is a loyalty oath.
Through thick and thin.
Cubs fans come to mind. Mets too.
Flyers fans too.
There is a sort of Sadomasochism being a Flyer fan.
There is a reason we flock here for Bill's daily commentary on the Titanic in the middle of summer.
Simple answer, we love the pain, we love having anger for particular circumstances.
I remain a fan, though I hate the current iteration of a franchise.
I'm a fan for the joy and misery they have provided me over a lifetime.
Kinda like a marriage.
And I love grumbling while reading the brilliance of Sargent MJL, cause I fall so short of intellect to match his hockey genius.

There have been good moments since 2010, but great? No, not really. The last truly great moment was game 7 vs Boston in 2010. And, since the Covid stoppage, there has been few, if any, good moments.

Great moments in the last few years:

*G’s 1000 game
*The return of Oskar after cancer
*The 2020 hot streak, first place in the play-in and two rounds at the bubble playoffs (Hart vs. Price)
*Sam Morin’s goal
*The Marchand shoot out flub
*Come back and the G game winner at stadium game
*G’s hat trick vs. NYR and our “MVP, MVP…”

Lots of good moments with the younger players particularly before the last two seasons. Provy’s end-to-end goal and some TK, Lindblom moments. Ghost before the injuries. G or Coots with the kids, any of the kids, was fun. Lots of good OT winners including Sanheim. Some of the other special nights, like Lou and Flyer’s Hall of Fame nights too.

Personally, I think the last 2 years have lead to where they are and with decent health, much rebounding, some breakouts among the younger group and major improvements in development progress of prospects this season…if, if, if…yes. Yes, I could be more positive about the future even if they are just a much improved non-playoff team this season. Everyone was not wrong about all our younger players as prospects; I want to believe they were right, and the team has more untapped talent than has appeared lately. It should be a foundation to build upon, not rubble to clear. That is what I hope to see anyway.

I guess Kane’s OT goal past Lieghton was our Red Sox Bill Buckner moment.

I have seen very few players with the injury luck of Allison over the 40 something years I have been watching hockey. It would be comical if it wasn't so tragic.
- MBFlyerfan

seems like its been happening more lately. morin, rubstov, patrick, allison. nittymaki made it and started having hip problems. emery, similar.

then you add the weird fluky stuff like lappy puck to face, pronger stick to brain, kalinski what infarction or something, wellwood, bryz full crazy hahaha. sure it happens to all organizations. but above has three first round picks from the last couple years where injuries are or have ended their careers.

Wow, This site has more crying than a maternity ward. I have been a Flyers fan since 1970. We had some great years and some bad years and I will continue to root for them. We only got a small sampling of Allison, but I think he can really help this team if he can finally stay healthy. Right now the Flyers are not stacked with talent, but if some of the Veterans get healthy and the kids start to fit in, then things may change sooner than later? We're no way near the Cup, but things will get better. I guess I'm one of the few glass half full people on this site?

Same about Allison. He can really help. Hopefully a healthy summer, training, better conditioning and pro recovery tips and he can finally be healthy more often than not.

As far as the outlook, the team needs to actually show this for folks to look up to a brighter future. These past two years have been brutal. No G, no Lindblom, no Voracek, Raffl, Ghost…lots of guys gone but the next wave isn’t visible. It very well could be here though. I’ll wait, but I need to see it.

Some nice human and individual moments and accomplishments. A couple of good individual performances in single games. Pales in comparison to the team success stories that the best franchises have. Is this enough to earn fan loyalty?

We all as sports fans know that there is an ebb and flow to building teams and a percentage that then translate to success and near misses and others to failure. The Flyers seem to have been stuck in place for about two years now only losing players yet not gaining much/any ground on internal growth. They were already ebbing before that so it feels like longer. As a fan, my loyalty remains through that normal ebb and flow, whether or not it results in success or failure. It’s about the journey.

What I do not expect as a fan is for my team to be allowed to remain in stagnation. I can fully support that injuries and poor coaching were a large part of the issues during these two years. If a new coaching staff and better health, show a vibrant young core that we can build around; then yes, my loyalty will not feel wasted. If they crash and let’s say we don’t have at least 3 players age 27 and under with 50+ points regardless of where the team finishes, I will expect more drastic rebuild methods and more draft picks than we currently have going forward. If those do not occur, no resurgence and no rebuild, and the expectation is just mediocre to poor finishes with an absence of a plan and clear direction to achieve success, then my loyalty will not have been deserved.

Yea, not much to hope for currently but I'll keep watching them and rooting for them. Pretty simple solution for those who complain about the Flyers every day...don't watch and don't follow. There are other teams out there.
