his role is to go play hockey. that's it. play to the best of his abilities and thrive in whatever assignment he has. if at the end of 2 years, he hasnt carved out a niche for himself, which will earn his next contract.

Yes, and you certainly came up.

Way off topic here, but i believe you are Canadian? If so, can I ask you how you feel about this situation.

Today, the NY Yankees, acquired Andrew Benintendi in a trade with the Royals. The trade had been held up for a few days because Benintendi is not vaccinated. As you know, players cannot enter Canada unless so. As the Yankees have many games left with the Bluejays, it would not have been in their best interest to make the deal. Now, the player says he will be vaccinated in order to facilitate the deal.

How do you feel about Canada’s restriction on people not allowed in unless vacinated?

I'LL ANSWER THE QUESTION!!!! [in sub-par imitation of Jack Nicholson]

I don't really feel much about it one way or another. I am triple vaccinated and it makes sense to be so, IMO, based on the empirical evidence of what transpired once large groups got vaccinated and we saw the differences in how bodies responded with and without it.
We now have so many people who will never consent to being vaccinated that we must find a way to go on with our lives. I will lose no sleep over people CHOOSING to forego their chance to visit Canada. But, I expect that criteria will soon go away.
I have not crossed the border since Covid began, despite being able to see the USA from my desk while at work. Now that we have the border "open" again, what may prevent me from crossing is the SCOTUS decision on Roe far more so than vaccination status.

Apologies for "coming at you", but I feel like we will both survive.

If being a healthy scratch in the ECF doesn't light a fire under his ass nothing will.

Being Canadian, living in the US for over a decade, Canada’s restrictions are absolutely ridiculous. Most of the world has lifted its restrictions, yet Canada, keeps them, and kept them brutally, even when they were having Covid breakouts 4-5 months ago, while other countries didn’t. The countries that didn’t have the same restrictions are in an absolute solid place.

I would agree that players need to be absolutely vaccinated if it actually prevented a spread, but that is simply not true. I’m hard pressed to find a close relationship that is vaccinated or triple vaccinated and hasn’t had Covid a second or third time. Because of this, and other logical factors, Canada needs to drop its mandate. It’s not doing them anything good other than control.

Rick, JRR, talk a break for a bit... (or, you know, just don't read this)

Fish_hoof, you are kind of missing the point of vaccination. Getting vaccinated is not intended to prevent you from getting the virus. It's about preventing extreme reaction from your body to said virus. I have only been infected once, after my second shot. It was like a mild flu. So, I have no plans to keep getting vaccinated. But, if in the future vaccinated people are reacting more severely again, I may decide to booster up. Do it, don't do it, I don't much care. This virus is here to stay and me and my family have done what we can to protect ourselves. Someone else doesn't want to, fine. Enjoy your life.
And what is the "control" you're referring to? We are being controlled into receiving an inoculation? To what end? I fail to see what the gov't stands to gain that is so nefarious.

I will not delete my response, but I will drop it here.

I don't quite get why these posts are so divisive. No one is forcing you to read them any more than Saver's essays or Dundee's incoherent drivel.

Peace, love, dope!

We....can't...not read it all.
We have a disorder.
Also, SOME people are way too serious on here. It's funny and sad at the same time.

I suspect that it's because 15-20 of us have cultivated "friendships" here that have no other avenue of connection. I don't have any people in my life that I interact with this much and restrict my interaction with to one single aspect of life.
Why...why must people freak out over internet posts they have absolutely no obligation to read?

Yea. Some people are more serious than others and get their panties twisted. So be it. People will be who they decide to be.

But I am happy Kakko signed a 2 year deal. Prove it time Mr. 2nd pick overall. Also, he has to prove he can stay healthy. Getting a bit concerned for that.

I just can’t do it anymore. It’s been 3 years and people still need it spelled out like they’re 7 year olds. Also it’s really just a ruse for them to shoehorn their feelings of personal aggrievement into a conversation. Literally any other topic for gods sake. I’m hardly “freaking out” about it though

Absolutely agree with everything said here.
I'm quite glad they secured Kakko and at a fair rate (IMO). Ball is now squarely in his court. Put up or shut up.

Well, you are trying to influence people on what they can or can't post about.
I have absolutely no issue with you on any subject. Quite enjoy your sense of humour, actually. But, if someone wants to ask me about my opinion on something and we have never DM'ed before, I have zero issue with the conversation being public. Ignore us or join in, whatever you wish, please. But, I am of the opinion that your energy would be better spent engaging the wheel on your mouse to scroll on down the page rather than trying to censure the conversation.

I’d argue we’re both wasting our energy but all I really took away from this is that you find me just absolutely, ridiculously hilarious

Exactly.

Plus, I'm sitting here at work with absolutely nothing on my plate the last couple days. Idle fingers are TJ's workshop, you know!
