There is absolutely nothing there in the context of him calling you a racist for you to report. Get your act together dude.
- MJL

The "context" was the commonality of utterly unprovoked insulting vituperation. A couple of weeks or so ago, he strongly insinuated that Bill was taking the stance did because of fear of losing his job.

I am sure I will never have the pleasure of meeting you in person, MJL, but I have to wonder if you are this benumbingly slow in real life or it is just a social media act.

And hopefully the attendance numbers reflect that as well. The years of being categorized by Mike Missanelli as Stepford Flyers Fans is at an end. Seems the Teflon is off.

If the Flyers ice a team that is watchable people will start going again. That's not being stepford fans. That's just being a fan. Right now I cannot even watch five minutes of this team.

The last two years have been 100% unacceptable. That is why people are not going. I am not driving 2 hours round trip, spend at least $200 for tix and spend $30+ to park to watch this poopshow. That does not include food or drink.

I do want to get my kids to a game soon. However, if it is going to a miserable experience I will not take them.

I actually don't think that this paid content should be shareable in this fashion. I don't suscribe to the Athletic and don't expect to get this for free. Not being critical of you accommodating some requests for this but think this is problematic.
- iamscore2day

I don't know what their sharing rules are - some sites allow you to share a limited number of articles per month. Some don't.

Anyway, if one is regularly interested in the content of a particular site, one should open their wallet and subscribe. It's the right thing to do.

imo, of course

I honestly think this is the approach Comcast/Scott counts on. Build an entertaining (not necessarily a contending) team, and they will come. They are kinda hemmed in, but Risto, TAD, Torts are steps towards that entertainment.

Better value and entertainment going up 176 to see the Royals or a little further for the Phantoms instead based on your location.

I mean, I completely understand where many are coming from. I am not saying it is morally clear at all and there is an obvious danger to people deciding what is frequent or not.

I personally think such very infrequent sharing is against the letter of the law, but not the spirit, but I will give it some thought.

I do find it amusing that many would be so concerned with such violations in a site where moral anarchy is the status quo. There is one other poster, active today, who has also shared such articles, from the same source, much more often than I have. No doubt a coincidence.

I hesitate to weigh in on a dispute of such momentous significance whose origins seem to stem from such an obscure repartee but I do feel compelled to observe that the phrase "insulting vituperation" achieves a level of redundancy that all on this board should strive to avoid.

Same, and I doubt a corporate legal eagle is scouring the internet for such things.

You obviously are interested enough, and find value in, subscribing to that site. That's how it should be.

Those 3 not are putting any asses in the seats. One may even argue Tony D may keep some fans away.

As was mentioned the cost of going to an NHL game is outrageous. There are other options. With the economy on bad shape people are being smart with what the spend on.

Flyers will be an after thought until a plan is in place to put a winning product on the ice and sustain that winning. Fans will accept a rebuild. Even the paying ones.

I struggled over that phrase and evidently failed but I humbly draw your attention to both the insulting and the unprovoked part of it, and not just the vituperation.

I think if I stick around here, I will both keep on posting and thus, conversation will never veer back to hockey, so I will bring about what you called my "Shakespearean exit" and humbly bid thee sweet farewell for now.

Flyers in Pitts- Wed Night
Thursday- Wheeling Nailers- Wheeling Wv

Sunday night Hershey Bears in Hershey and drove straight to work from Hershey Monday Am..

From Charlie O'Connor. I hope this puts the Hextall as GM debate to rest once and for all:

Can you recap how we got here as a franchise? We have no top-end talent. Our farm system is meh? Yet somehow we are always in salary cap trouble. Are the Flyers the least innovative franchise in the league? — Shawn B.

Such analysis would take a full column. But if I was going to point to one thing that led to the Flyers’ current predicament of lacking top-end talent with no clear path to get it, it’s that the crown jewels of the Ron Hextall retool — Ivan Provorov, Travis Konecny, Nolan Patrick, Carter Hart — all either stagnated or regressed.

The whole thought process behind Hextall’s plan was to provide players like Giroux and Jakub Voracek with young teammates who would slowly lessen their load so that they could age gracefully into their 30s and become the second tier on the club behind the drafted players who would then be entering their primes. And in 2019-20, it looked like that was exactly what was happening. Provorov appeared to be developing into a legit No. 1 defenseman given a stable partner. Konecny was scoring at nearly a point-per-game rate. Hart was establishing himself as an above average NHL starter at an extremely young age. Yes, the Patrick pick was looking iffy due to the uncertainty surrounding his injury status, but it looked like the Flyers had at least three young stars ready to take the helm from Giroux and Voracek, in addition to Couturier moving into “best all-around player on the team” status.

You know the rest. Konecny clearly regressed. One can debate how much of Provorov and Hart’s statistical declines have been due to outside factors, but it’s also fair to note that true stars dominate even in less than ideal situations, and at least at this point, neither are at that level. Patrick obviously proved to be a bust, at least in Philadelphia.

In order to build a contending team via the draft-and-develop model, you need to hit at least a couple home runs. It appeared the Flyers had. Now, it looks like they basically just hit a bunch of doubles at best. That’s not to say that Provorov, Konecny and Hart should be viewed as disappointments, to be clear. And I suspect that the current prospect pool will produce far more quality players than most frustrated fans want to admit; last season was a bit of a perfect storm in terms of injuries in that regard, which made the pool seem worse than it actually was. But at least some players have to dramatically exceed expectations for it to work, if you’re not drafting in the top-five year after year. That just didn’t happen with the Hextall crop, and this is the result — having to fill top-of-the-lineup holes with expensive free agents on the downslopes of their careers rather than cost-controlled youngsters trending upward.

There is no Ristolainen bashing in my post. Just an accurate description of the player. There isn't anything that Ristolainen does really well.

I don't think you know what Tortorella's approach is.

- MJL

I do know what Tort's approach is and I do believe Risto is a better defenseman than you give him credit for. Oh, and BTW, so does Bill M. So we'll just see how the season goes. I for one think Risto will have his best advanced metrics season, not top of class by any means, but really good for him.
