Love this deal! I think we're going to be in for some exciting times during those 5 years.

we'll check in on you when we're last in the division two months into the season.

Now that puljujarvi signed his big ticket I wonder what the asking price for him would be. We need him on this team in order to elevate our players.

do you think arbitration might work best for us? Bratt has only had one 70+ pt season, every other year has been 30-35 pts I think. Maybe an arbitor would take that into account and award a fairer deal than playing chicken with Bratt's agent.

I really don't want him getting more than $6M ideally. I'd be ok with $7 but I don't think it's justified yet.

Siegs reminds me of Adam Larsson - so the signing i think is great. Fitz gave up a 3rd round pick for a dude that'll prob slot in our top 4. Thats what you call a steal.

Even without the stars we missed on, Im super excited for this season. If Jack and Blacky stay healthy, I think we are playoff bound.

That Norris contract scared me... But tkachuk got 9.5 and had a way better season. Im hoping that contract will make Bratts team lower their demands.

But in the end, whatever happens, we cant be upset with Bratt. Its his life, his career.

Really hoping Gritsyuk can become a legit NHL threat. Russian players seem like a crapshoot. I was pumped for Gusev too lol.

Arbitration deals are only one year long. What's going to happen is that Bratt is going to get paid more and each year his QO is going to increase while walking him to FA. We don't know what each side is asking for but I'm guessing that some of the deals signed this summer makes Bratt think he'd be worth 8mil per which isn't going to happen.

I don't think going to arbitration is good for anybody. All it does is usually strain the relationship between the two sides, because all it ends up being is the team telling the player why hes not as good as he thinks he is and why he isnt worth what hes asking. It'd be best to do everything possible to avoid getting to that point, because the most likely outcome if it actually goes to arbitration is that he gets a one year deal and then is either traded next year or he takes another 1 year deal and walks as a UFA.

Luckily it doesn't seem like $ is the issue, if Fitz is to be believed. He said they want him here long term but they need to find a sweetspot on term. Which probably means the rumors of Bratt wanting a shorter term deal to bet on himself to try to get a huge pay day when the cap raises is probably true.

I still think a deal gets done before next week, but I'd be shocked if it's a 7 or 8 year deal at this point. If I had to guess, I think they'll settle on a 4 or 5 year deal around ~6.5M AAV. But we'll see. The closer it gets to arb, the more nervous I'll be.

Well I didn't specify which of those 5 years will be exciting lol. I'm expecting to be 10th- 8th worst in the league again this year. Idk if Nemec will make the team, but either way 2023 will be fun with likely both him and Luke being decent young exciting players, plus with hopes that Holtz and some other young forwards really solidify themselves by then. Plus another deadline and offseason, I think 23 we could push for a playoff seed.

I'm curious who will still be here by the time we ever get to the finals again, if we ever do lol. In the past we've had big name big character players be traded or not signed by the time we started winning. Mac was the guy and was only here for 95. Captain Kirk was gone after walking out of training camp over a contract dispute in 91. Who ever thought our ace in the hole A-line would be broken up after such domination? Or even rookie sensation Shanahan. You just never know.

Per Kevin Weekes, UFA Zach Aston-Reese has been skating at the Devils practice facility, but says theres "nothing on that currently." Wouldnt be shocked if hes a potential PTO option and a 4th line fill-in guy depending on what happens with McLeod. Doesn't provide anything offensively at all but has been one of the best defensive forwards in the league the past few years. Hes essentially the forward version of Siegenthaler lol. Something to keep an eye on there.

Actually we’ll probably win all 3 games, go undefeated in preseason, then go winless in the first 3 weeks of the season.

Tankathon is back on the menu boys.

We will be close enough to get some loser points while Arizona and Chicago pile up the losses and pick #3 so we miss on Bedard and Michkov
