Because the amount of suitors for that contract is extremely limited. If Bob's was to agree to a trade, if its not Ottawa or Detroit, I dont waive... but Detroit just got Husso, so its the Senators or bust. Theres absolutely no way I wave for Buffalo or Arizona.

There’s really no rush. If they were moving him I feel like it would’ve been done already.

Blais more likely than Goodrow since thats where he was playing to start the year last year.

It’s a shame Gauthier isn’t more physical. His only chance to crack the roster is in the bottom 6 but he’s not nearly physical enough to be affective. He might be the softest 6’4 230 lb player there is.

Maybe give Gauthier a 10 game tryout on the top line and hope he figures it out. He has the size and the speed, just can’t finish for anything.

Joey Keane just signed in the KHL so anything we've already gotten from Gauthier is gravy

I think the ship has sailed on Gauthier. The kid is a good skater for his size, has a very good power move and has decent hands, kinda Rick Nash-esque, however thats where the comparison abruptly ends. As you say, hes not physical, doesnt get into the dirty scrums and hes a total bonehead. For every one decent play he makes, theres atleast 2 penalties coming. His lack of physical play and terrible backchecking (his reverse skating is atrocious) causes him to take a ridiculous amount of lazy stick penalties. He needs to stay off the ice.

The fact that were talking about playing Gauthier on the top line, and not even considering Phil Kessel for atleast a PTO is ridiculous.

The last 2 years in ARI, 138 games and had 95 points. Like it or not, even full on hot dogs, the guy can still produce.

The other thing about Kessel, he doesnt get hurt.

we may be talking about that but i'm fairly certain management isn't. if the team is looking to give Kakko a reason to sign before he's offer sheeted i can't imagine PTO'ing a potential replacement in Kessel would help. Gauthier is definitely not being considered for a top line role

I kinda feel like its worth giving Kessel a look regardless. If GG wants to keep the kid line together, that leaves an open spot in the top 6. Theres not a single person on the 4th line or scratched worth entertaining above Kessel at probably league minimum salary. I get it, hes not young, but he has almost 1000 points in the NHL and hes basically never injured, he doesnt take a lot of penalties and it looks like he hasnt missed a game since 2010.

i think the team is committed to getting at least Laf and Kakko top 6 minutes. Obviously no room for Chytil there. Laf seems like the safer bet (there's no way he turns down flipping to RW to get a chance with Mika and Kreids) and Kravtsov is a threat to take some top 6 minutes. I just don't see it

I would expect LAF to play RW on the Ziba line as he did twice during the year before the deadline. If thats the plan, then cool, but knowing how bipolar GG is that idea could get scratched as quickly as it started. Putting LAF back on the kids line, and GG going with his boy Dryden Hunt on the 2nd line again.

I don't care who is top 6 RW as long as Hunt is on the 4th line or in the press box.

I contend his hands are rocks. He in no way has shown the soft touch and scoring prowess that Nash did. When Gauthier is in a high scoring area, he becomes a no trick pony. NOTHING. So far all that speed and size, he wastes it with doing nothing with the puck.
