Lines Id like to see in January...
LAF, Zib, Kakko (enough is enough, they need to be spotlighted)
Panarin, Trochek, Krav
Kreider, Chytil, Blais
Cuylle, Goodrow, Reaves/Carpenter/Hunt
Id also like to see a line of Kreider, Trochek, Blais just for shtsngiggles... they would be an absolute nuisance out there pissing everyone off. - aecliptic
I don’t see why or how they break up Zib and Kreider. Laf should 100% be on PP1, but I still think him and Chytil should be together. The 3rd player on the line I’m not quite sure.
Zib Kreider
Tro Bread
Chytil Laf
Those 6 should not stray from each other on their respective lines imo. At least to start the season I think that’ll be the set up
Kreider just had 52 goals and every one of them Zib was probably on the ice with him, I don’t see GG breaking that up anytime soon
And again on Laf, it may actually be wise to keep his numbers down due to his pending raise next year. To do that, he’s on the 3rd line. Which really is a 2B line, or has that potential, regardless of ice time it gets

They wont, but Id like to see LAF get some shifts every game on the 1LW with Zib.
Kreider had 23 even strength goals, LAF had 19 playing positional roulette.
Can Kreider still score 20 playing with Chytil? Whats LAF's upside playing consistent minutes with Zibanejad? Whats the upside for Ziba playing with LAF?
What about the fact that Kreider only had 25 assists and Zibanejad had his lowest goals per game average since he joined the team in 2017?
If LAF can score at the same pace or better at even strength as Kreider and Zibanejad is scoring more because LAF can actually pass. Isnt that logistically better?
Im obviously just spit balling hypothetical stuff, however, theres a legit case to play LAF 1LW over Kreider. |

I dont know how you get around the fact that Kreider and Zibanejad want to play together, and considering they had a historic season, I dont see it changing anytime soon
unless there are struggles this coming season

Trust me, I understand they have a bromance, I mentioned it in a previous post. However I feel like LAF should be the LW on that line and Kreider should play RW because what he does doesnt matter positionally. Hes gonna go into the boards and park his rear in front of the net, it doesnt matter if hes left or right to do that. |

I mean, yes and no. It means he was on the ice for 35 more goals scored against than for. If the entire team was upwards of -30, I’d say the defense and goalie are just that bad. But the only 2 even close to him are Sillinger (-22) and Chinahkov (-27) which are the teams 2 pervious 1st round picks playing in their first season. Again, not saying it’s the be all end all stat, but definitely something to look at. |

They won’t break up Kreider and zib but again your 1OA can’t be playing 13-14 minutes per night. No other organization would play that pick so few minutes in year 3. Kreider moving to the right should be the ask over a young player |

Damn solid trade for the flames. Even if they can’t extend Weaver and Huberdeau they can dangle them at the trade deadline for a solid haul
Not many times you see a true blockbuster trade where 2 top ten scorers from previous season are in the same deal. Just insane |

FLA must have been thinking the same we were with Panarin as far as getting a younger stud for the long haul. Except they didnt have a NMC holding them back.
I dont think this makes FLA a better team, but it makes them younger. However they lose another 1st round pick and one of the best players in the league.
In the long term, Im not sure this works out for Florida. |

The equivalent on our end would be Panarin, Lindgren, Cuylle and a 1st for Tkachuk.
Thats a hard mfkn pass. |

Both players were UFAs after this coming season. Fla wasnt going to be able to keep them both. They got younger. Lost 2 picks even though Calgary was under the gun to trade him. |

I think CGY did good here. They’ll be able to flip Huberdeau for a 1st+++ at the deadline if it doesn’t look like he’s signing there long term and Weager for a 1st+. They’ll end up with 3 1st’s+++ out of it. Good deal for them IMO. |

I think we can all agree the Flames did a good job here, jettisoning a disgruntled star player, while bringing in valuable trade chips later in the year.
Let’s look at the deal from the Panthers and Tkachuk viewpoint. The player is thrilled he escapes playing half his games in a country that played way too many games in empty or half filled arenas, even when it was no longer necessary by any medical need, but out of fear. Here’s a question, name the last star player to sign a long multi year deal for a Canadian team? Not to mention no state income tax in sunny Flirida. Bur I digress.
The Panthers realized very quickly that there is a huge difference between a good regular season team, and a good playoff team. MT addresses a huge need for Florida. He automatically beefs up their top 6, while still providing the scoring of a softer Huberdeau, who they weren’t going to be able to sign, now they have Tkachuk in the fold, and a start to making their top 6 more physical. A trend I believe is starting to take shap in the NHL.
I know every one here loves all these top drafts picks. How have Kakko, Chytil and Krastov worked out for the Rangers. I know, they’re still young, but they are what they are, will they improve? Maybe. |

This is going to come off harsh but… whatever. I feel like words just don’t mean anything on here
1) “Let’s look at the deal from the Panthers and Tkachuk viewpoint.”:
then you proceed to project your viewpoint
Also, they had THE SAME ATTENDANCE NUMBERS
2) “ The Panthers realized very quickly that there is a huge difference between a good regular season team, and a good playoff team. MT addresses a huge need for Florida.”: Forgive me if I’m wrong but didn’t Calgary lose in the first round?
3) “I know, they’re still young, but they are what they are, will they improve?”:
Is it that they are what they are or do they have the ability to improve? Which is it? |

I believe the panthers had the best record in the league during the regular season. A 4 game sweep out of the playoffs, was not on anyones radar. They were pushed around by Tampa, and went clubbing the night before the final game, they needed a culture change, this deal helps start it.
I think the flames knew to a man they were facing a mass exodus, their early Elimination was not a great surprise to me. Plus, I don’t think much of Sutter as a coach, he certainly didn’t deserve the Adams.
I’ll. Go out on a limb for you. Kakko is very close to a bust. I guess when he was being scouted by teams, they didn’t realize test he was head and shoulders better than the kids he was playing against. It hasn’t translated to the NHL game. A choppy stride, has hampered his development, coupled with when he tries to add some physicality to his game he gets hurt. Chytil can skate, but that’s it. He’s soft, doesn’t create, doesn’t make anyone better. Keep him around to play 3rd line minutes? Sure.
Kravstov? Who the hell knows. |
