What was the Isles offer? Casey Cizikas, Kieffer Bellows and a conditional 3rd rounder? |

New York Islanders
Cap space: $11,185,037
It was a little surprising how much the Islanders weren't actually in on Gaudreau, but they couldn't move out the salary to make it work. Obviously with Tkachuk, it would be a trade and a chance to move out salary to make the numbers work.
The motivation is obvious: The Islanders were 23rd in goal scoring last season, missing the playoffs. They have a new building to fill. Tkachuk would create instant buzz and give the franchise a legitimate star to pair with Mathew Barzal.
The pitch: F Anthony Beauvillier, F Oliver Wahlstrom, and a 2023 first-round pick for Tkachuk and Monahan.
The Islanders' ownership pays out the salary owed to Monahan as it stashes him on LTIR, where it doesn't currently have anyone listed. The rest of the deal gives New York $16,202,085 in cap space to sign Tkachuk, Noah Dobson and Alexander Romanov before the season. Wahlstrom is just 22 and could be a star. Islanders fans are going to hate losing him, but his inclusion makes it work.
We'll propose this deal as we meditate on a much cleaner, but much riskier, Barzal-for-Tkachuk one-for-one trade. |

ESPN isn't a sport reporting channel. It's trash live tv style of people saying the same damn thing everyday and then yelling a lot.

Libor Hajek in a Tkachuk package would make me boil, deep fry and eat a shoe. |

If we find a right wing (could be on the roster already) that can consistently put the puck in the net, we are going to be a very strong team. If we find two of them- we can challenge for the Cup IMO - Greschnergy#4
Which btw is the reason I wanted Kane so bad. I truly believe he puts them over the top. Especially now with them all having 20 playoff games under their belt. The time to trade some assets is here. The deadline should be a doozy |

Arthur Staple:
If Artemi Panarin was willing to waive his no-move clause, do you think Chris Drury would have any interest in a trade? What do you perceive his value to be? I’m figuring any deal would have to involve an established NHL talent with a fairly high salary coming back. — John F.
I think Drury would very much have an interest in trading Panarin. It ain’t happening, but if Panarin somehow decided he wanted out — now that Drury’s traded his closest friend on the team (Pavel Buchnevich) and let his other close friend walk in free agency (Ryan Strome) — maybe there’s a 0.0001 percent chance. It would either be a swap of bad contracts or just a massive salary dump by the Rangers.
Panarin’s still an elite player, of course. But the contract means hardly anyone can afford to plug him in, so there wouldn’t be a huge bidding war. And the point of shedding Panarin’s salary for the Rangers would be to free up cap space, not find a different version of Panarin. |

we're talking about a guy in the middle of his prime coming off his highest regular season point total on a team that made it to the EFC here... right? The dude put up 96 with Dryden hunt on his wing for most of the season |

This is what concerns me: “ I think Drury would very much have an interest in trading Panarin.” It can’t just be the playoffs, so what is it. |

I have no reason to believe this is anything other than pure speculation during a lull in the news cycle |

Any time, any high end player is available on the market, the Rangers will always be talked about and what lengths they would need to go to to make it happen.
I think a lot of the reason for that is people dont really know Drury as a GM, and so they have no idea what hes thinking. Leaving them an open platform to write all sorts of speculation because Drury doesnt really talk about anything. |
