That's wild.

Is it? Pretty much in line with expected, and actually way less than market value. Evolving-hockey had his market value at 4 years, ~5.4M AAV.

I was expecting it to be closer to 4, so im cool with this.

I'm going to have to see some proof that evolving-hockey has his cap hit at 5.4 mil.

The Devils and Vitek Vanecek have agreed on a contract extension, 3 years at 3.4M AAV.

Now sitting at 9.6M cap space remaining with Bratt, Wood, Boqvist, Zetterlund, and Thompson needing a deal. Someone is definitely getting moved out(Probably AJ)

- vlongo4419

That's higher than I hoped for

Wood may get 2.5-3
Bratt let's say 7
Boqvist 1.5
Zetterlund and Thompson not too worried as will be in Utica most likely

Also have to factor in bernier on LTIR so may just about fit

Why? There's no way it projects him at that cap hit. And if it does, you did something wrong.

VV has been slightly below average the best two years, and couldn't take the starting reigns from Samsonov. I wish him the best, but no way in hell the Caps were signing these two to the contracts they got.

Bro look at the tweet. It clearly shows him at that projection.

He was one of the better 5v5 goalies in the league last season. His numbers were tanked from being subpar on the PK and 3-on-3

For 4 years. So it, probably has him at around 4.5 for 3 years. That's wild. Hey, enjoy him.

Yes, that is literally what I said. We signed him for below the projected market value.

Yup I've seen it, and Jfresh himself has said his goalie charts are wonky. It's completely flipped. His 5v5 save% and HDSV% were top 10 in the league last season and he had a positive GSAx at 5v5. His PK and 3-on-3 play was below average, which tanked his overall numbers.

No, no he wasn't. He had a .926 save % at 5v5. 9th in the league tied with Husso, Vasy, and Freddie Andersen.

Todd already did the scoop on it when the Devils traded for him: https://twitter.com/ToddC...sAFI1NyFl_iaqN89eVng&s=19

Not sure where he got those numbers from, but they are incorrect. Go look at hockey-reference, nhl.com, or any other hockey statistics site.

It doesn't matter man, enjoy him.

LOL it's from NST. It's doesn't fit your narrative so clearly "tHeY aRe InCoRrEcT."

The funny thing is, you listed nhl.com and hockey reference and neither actually show 5v5 numbers lol. So yeah.

Nah neither do actually. Hockey reference only shows ES save %.

He has struggled at times these past two seasons. But, he is a hard worker and I think has the better upside of him and Sammy. Opportunity is his to grab.

I'm quite pleased by the Vanecek signing. Same contract as Georgiev and trending better so pretty glad about that. With the Marino trade we're running out of cap space though assuming there is a Bratt signing coming soon. Need a trade to happen to move a contract.

still doesn't seem right that all of a sudden we're worrying about our cap situation. Unfamiliar territory here
