Idk maybe it's because I have been 160# much of my life, but I intimidated a lot of people in the gym and on the field in sports. I curled 100# dumbbells for 15 reps and had a 400# bench press. I never played hockey, but I would hit players double my size on the football field and send them to the sideline. Power and strength mean more than size.
- 123Kid

At 6'2" 220 lb playing mlb and og in football the only player on our team at 160 lb was the wr. Growing up on a farm putting up 30-40k bales of hay a yr i was fairly strong then hit the weights hard in the military so my perspective on 160 lb athletes may be skewed. My brother is 6'4" 235lbs, played rugby at West Point. So my perspective is 160 lb athletes are few and far between in football, hockey, or basketball...

You just described soft lol
- Victoro311

No I didn't. Just because a player isn't physical doesn't mean they're soft. I guess to me, players who avoid physical play all together are what I view as soft. He uses his body from what I read/heard, just not in the ways you'd like to see from a guy his size.

Archibald will fight and he can lay some big hits. Not sure what you're talking about. Obviously he's not a Ryan Reaves type fighter but he's dropped the gloves maybe 8-10 times in his career.
- j.boyd919

Totally. He's just a poopty hockey player.

Agree with that.

Yeah, that's all I mean. Spending money on guys like Archibald or Caggiula uses up precious cap space. DOC and Z are already better players than those guys.

Farnham was 190 lbs and only played something like 67 games in his only 4 yrs in the NHL! Archibald is considerably smaller at 175 lbs, when you are talking 15lbs on a small frame... My point is Archibald is not going to fight or intimidate anyone as kid eluded to...
- PENS1989

Yeah but the thing is Archibald will fight guys, and already has a bit of a reputation as a guy that hits to hurt.

He's also a poop hockey player. I'd rather sign Boyle than Archibald.

As would I. Boyle would be great every second game or so haha.

Getting rid of rutta, mcginn, archibald, caigulla and replacing them with kids (and ruwh) could free up decent amount of cash.

If Poj can even turn into a Petterson and we can let dumo walk next year, that’s a hefty chunk of cap.

Rugby can be crazy. Our high school team was short from having a team so they tried scouting the football team for some guys but the football coach said no haha. So they came to us on the hockey team and half of us played, it was an awesome experience, but I'd never play again.

Yeah, unfortunately we're stuck with Rutta and McGinn for a bit.

It's not all on POJ. Smith is a possibility, we just have to see how he looks this upcoming season.

Sorry. Idk why, but that post got under my skin. Probably because I've been stuck in traffic for 5 hours today on my way back home.

Bailing hay is no joke! I helped a few friends around their farms when they bailed hay. Man that definitely is one tough workout. I wish I was blessed with those genetics bro! I played as a strong safety. Definitely pay for my football days now that I'm older.

We have officially hit the slow point of the off-season when everyone is arguing about if Josh Archibald is a physical player lol

Yeah. Hopefully they both have great seasons and someone wants them. Mcginn is blah. But I’d imagine rutta in a 3rd capacity should be pretty successful.

The Rutta thing doesn't even make sense me if he plays well. Ruhwedel was outstanding in his role. There was no need to bump him out of the lineup.

I'm honestly not as down on McGinn as others year. I think he's a smart player, good PKer and gets on the board enough for his role. Yeah, he's over paid a tad. He's closer to a $2M player than a $3M player, but he at least makes sense in the lineup. Rutta doesn't even if he's good.

EDIT:
Regardless if it's Smith or POJ in the 3rd role, Ruhwedel is almost the perfect type of dman for a young player to play with getting their feet wet.

You must have just missed the ZAR vs Larsson debate, that was a real butthole clenching one, everyone was on the edge of their seat

This is also banking on Ruhwedal playing good this year. I can see it now, Ruh playing bad and us wondering why he's continually in the lineup 😂. We're all guilty lol. I hope he's his normal self but you never know.

Asked on Saturday if a trade involving a defenseman is still to come, Ron Hextall said that it isn't necessarily the case, and that the Penguins could go into training camp with all nine defensemen. The Penguins have five right-handed defensemen and four left-handed defensemen. If they are to make another trade, they have some flexibility as to which defensemen can be moved.

I really can't think of a time he's been bad for the Pens. He just never really got to play an extended period of time like he did last year.
