Dumo, after how he looked last season, in that role for a full season is concerning to say the least. If Dumo sticks around, and I've always suspected he would, he should be 3rd pair/1st PK....

Petry is not a problem. The problem was for who he was traded for. Matheson was NOT supposed to leave.

Petry has skill. But he’s expensive and old. Hopefully this ages we’ll.

I really came to like Mike Matheson. I also have a high opinion of Petry despite his struggles last season. Would I have exchanged Marino for him? No, but I do think if Letang goes down Petry has a much better skill set to take the 1RD role than Marino does so in that sense i don’t think this trade off is an unmitigated disaster from an on ice perspective. The main problem is that we have holes in the top 9 and this increase in cap basically closes the door on addressing them.
