How does the rent free thing work exactly if you are the one who instigated with me?

In 2 years time, 24-25 season, the cap is expected to go up 4-6 million so the Cap will be around 87-90 million.
- Brukie

Wont matter, not enough space for us.

LAF, Miller, Lindgren, Schneider, Robertson, Kakko, Kravtsov, Chytil (if hes still here) would all have had or be needing a contract extension. And then the following year Shesty’s contract is due and that wont be cheap.

Yeah I’ve finally come around on the Mcdonagh Miller trade

I know I defended it every single day the last 4 years and talked about nothing else, but it’s over.

I admit it.

We lost that trade. Hajek just isn’t gonna pan out.

Brooks said something about gaining cap space as the season goes along. When did that start? I never knew that haha. Because they can get Kane with less than 50% retained in that case. Someone is going to get him and I really hope it’s us. I’m going to bite my nails all year waiting

We talk about a player's cap-hit as though it stays the same all season, but it's actually reduced on each contract as the season progresses. If you you look at capfriendly's numbers for each team, there are entries for "today's cap hit," "current cap-space," and "deadline cap-space" amounts. The deadline cap number is significantly lower (and the cap-space at the deadline is much higher). Not sure when the significant "gains" in cap-space actually occur.

Yep. It’s also why you see a lot of paper transactions during the season, guys being sent to Hartford on paper but in reality never go there, it’s all about accumulating more cap space as the year goes on

I havent seen anything from anyone official, but I have actual seen some people on twitter say he is still feeling the effects of his injury and may need surgery, who knows if there is any reality to that, but it could be the reason

Pretty evident to me what the team’s arbitration filing means for Tkachuk: his days in Calgary are over

He is only 27. I wonder if he would be willing to take a one year deal. Try to cash out next summer. If he really wants to come back.

Brutal. Top 5 team to potential rebuild? Poor Calgary fans, that team could have made a serious run over the next few years.

the club chose arbitration, so an arbitrator will give him a one year deal, probably iike 10 million and then he'll be a UFA next summer

Edmonton, Calgary and Winnipeg have real problems with nobody wanting to live there long term when they have the chance to get out, especially when these guys get older, get married and have wives who just cant stand living in those frozen tundras

The Tkachuk thing is pretty crazy though. What kind of result do you think will come out of arbitration?
