Us to Sykora: “Not a bad day for you, huh?”

A goal, signs his ELC with #NYR

Sykora: “Best ever.”

Here is a question

If the Rangers youngsters (KK, Laf, Fil Kravs) show an improvement by the trade deadline, say 20 percent over last years stats, the Rangers will most likely be in a strong position to make the playoffs then, would you want to trade for Kane then?

- Brukie

That's a tough one. I think they still do it as long as it's not one of those you mentioned going the other way. Kane would really deepen the lineup and if they are having a good season turn them into a top level contender.

didnt see anything indicating he was wing or center
- jimbro83

Well he shows as a LW/C on elite prospects so I hope he's not another LW.

Important signing here. This makes #NYR prospect Adam Sýkora (R2, 2022) AHL-eligible in 2023-24.

he's playing in WHL in 2022-23

Im excited to see where this kid develops. I think he has potential.

At that point, are we more or less a Cup contender with or without Kane. I think if were really clicking like that, we should definitely make a move.

Yes, 1000% yes, depending on cost as a short term rental

Cuylle, Othmann, Skinner, Laba, Trivigno, Sykora all scored in the scrimmage
- jimbro83

Trivigno supposedly looked great, non stop motor and offensive skill

I hope McDavid and Draisaitl leave Edmonton before they win a cup.

Would you rather a whole season of Kane or a trade deadline Kane?

Too many variables. Does this scenario ignore the cap? Are we in a comfortable playoff position at the deadline? Is the cost significantly lower at the deadline?

I don't think it's possible before the deadline. Even then, unless they accumulate additional space from players landing on IR I'm not sure they'll be able to do it.

Of course whole season, but too many cap gymnastics needed to make that happen. Plus Chicago may wait to deal him

At the deadline though rosters and cap expands.

I thought the cap space only expands as the season moves along due to IR calculations etc. Doesn't the cap limit remain the same?

So if KK is around the 20/40 mark you would want to trade him for Kane as a rental?

Friedman on 32TP says to move James van Riemsdyk the Flyers were being asked for a 2023 1st RD pick. They didn't want to do it.

I expect Drury will treat next deadline like this last one

add to, not subtract from the current roster

use picks and a marginal prospect like Morgan barron was
