I have a theory on torts signing. I am of the belief that no credible coach could possibly look at flyers team and direction (other than total rebuild) and think to themselves yeah this is doable or a good situation…

Torts is on record saying this is his last coaching gig….

No way is torts taking this job with some delusion that he can turn it around. Not with the dysfunction above him….

My theory/question… is torts just using this gig as retirement package? He GOTTA know he’s lucky to make it a year. Either he’s fired by some new gm or goes off the rails after losing his poop. But team will be paying him for 4 years.

I mean maybe not solely his purpose but he’s had to look at whole picture and be like (frank) it easy money right?

Ridiculous. Every coach has a competitive fire in them. If they didn't, they wouldn't get to where they are. They also want to keep their legacy intact and hate to lose.

We're told that the old guard country club has no influence yet the Flyers are still signing players because they can fight! Is there any single move that solidifies that and that the Flyers are so far behind the modern day NHL?

Only hope is chuck was told to have high picks the next few years. Maybe

Only way JG would have made any sense is if he thought is was worth $2.5-$3.0m/yr to be here.

Right-handed defensemen: DeAngelo, Ristolainen, Braun and Ellis. Hmm....what are the odds that Ellis is expected to be healthy any time soon?

I am not a cap expert, but if, after re-signing Frost, Tippett, etc., and putting Ellis on LTIR, perhaps we should be the team looking to acquire a JVR-type (one year left, possibly tradeable at the deadline) plus a pick from a team in cap trouble. I suppose those dance partners are gone.

I wonder what Chuck explained to him as being the plan. If Tortarella actually believed in their aggressive retool and is now watching Fletcher fail miserably.

Looking at what they are doing, I can honestly say I have no f’ing idea what the plan is. Which further cements the obvious that neither does Fletcher.

If they just wanted to get tougher to play against in the meantime, I’d be OK with it I guess if they weren’t signing guys like that to 4 year deals at 2 million per. Crazy. He must be a real LRG (locker room guy)

To me it’s not as much about the player, but the term and cap hit.
- Peter Richards

right - nothing against the guy as a player, except they don't need him and certainly not at that price and term

I don't know if anyone from the Flyers reads these boards, so I am probably pissing into the wind, but I think as many fans, in as many forums or outlets as possible, need the FO to understand they have failed, and failure comes with the price of no attendance at games. The only thing Comcast understands is revenue, so that is the only lesson they can be taught.

For me to think we are tanking, we would have to move TK and Provy, maybe some others. Right now, on paper, we are better than Chicago. They will (most likely) unload Kane and Toews, we would have to hope our lottery ball hits.

If they are tanking, then sadly they are failing at that too.

I said it yesterday, there’s only one or two teams that are worse than us. Lottery no longer strongly favors the worst team, we are in good shape

It's hard to mock ND. Guy is a proud player, he's excited he got a big pay day. He is what he is. This is about the incompetent boob Fletcher.

Not how Torts works in my view. The guy wants to win.

He' s done as a GM. We saw plan B yesterday. In the end his obsession with having an adequate number of RH Dmen was his downfall. Look at the assets and cap spent to accomplish that task. Looking fwd to the next chapter after the Fletcher era. It will happen soon enough.
- Trox88

The thing that gets me is that the franchise is allergic to drafting RHD—has drafted zero in the first or second round during the cap era. Then constantly says how valuable they are and how thin the organization is on right side defense.

I'm so frustrated with this Franchise and everything that it's been doing... to the point that I don't know what to start complaining about when people ask me "What's going on with your Flyers?!?". My blood immediately starts to boil and I get so damn frustrated that id rather not say anything to them at all. I just try to remind myself that it's completely out of my control and I respond to them with a head shake and a simple "Very dark days ahead for Flyers fans".

I'd almost prefer to wear a T-shirt that says "Yes, I'm a Flyers Fan... No I don't want to talk about it... Please stop laughing at me" just to avoid the stress.

He should think of it as winning the lottery. For us, on the other hand, CF as a GM is a kind of cosmic punishment by the Gods that seems like it can only happen here.

All of those 4th line grinders are good guys usually. And there are spots for them on rosters. They set good examples with work ethic too, but signing someone like they to a 4 year, 2 million per deal is nuts, especially when a team is In the position the flyers are in. When will the madness end? My biggest concern right now is who has the ability to see this is not going well and can actually make a change?

I would like a black t-shirt that says "Everything Sucks" in orange with the Flyers symbol on it.

somehow we managed to actually get worse. That was probably had to do. WTF is Justin Braun doing back? He can teach the other D how to turn their heads quickly without straining their neck???

This is true and is an achievement of sorts. Bias for action.
