Is that true? - MJL
Who knows. I am just pissed off. Sometime yesterday, I saw a fake account that said Fletcher was fired and Briere had been named interim GM. The realization that I would have preferred that not to have been fake made it clear to me that regardless of whether a change in GM will bring about a positive or negative difference or none at all, I have checked out and am fine with it. Maybe it will happen. We’ll see.

Anyone get the feeling that Braun was signed, not just for depth, but also if DeAngelo (who I assume they will force with Provorov) doesn't work out they will just throw Braun with him again? - Glak18
Uh huh. |

When can we expect Bob Clarke to do an interview on some obscure subject and throw in how Fletcher has ruined the Flyers? |

Agree with you Bill, a bit of a snowball effect because of numerous wrong moves.
The real tear down needed (needs) to happen and hasn’t. They should have committed to it pre trade deadline, not just partial. And continued right into this offseason and up to next years draft and committed to all out tank for Bedard and others in 23 draft.
That being said there are plenty of good young players in this lineup and Torts will get the best out of them…at least his history indicates it will just because of accountability. The bad thing is we all know this will leave us in the bottom third of the league because this defence has not proven it can do good things. If team defence does not get corrected Carter Hart is going to be a waste.
I truly believe Chuck would have moved JVR along with picks to free up capspace to get Johnny Hockey if Briere was not there. I believe Briere provided bigger picture and convinced him high picks are more important than another big contract to get this team where it needs to be.
To me we are are looking at 25-26 season before we will be in playoff conversation and that is how they should be constructing a roster.

It's a guarantee with how bad that DeAngelo is defensively that Braun will at least be used situationally with Provorov.

It's the rebuild we wanted.
Start recouping picks and moving salary where possible. |

I would place money on that never happening. Fletch is a surrogate son to Bobby Clarke, the progeny of his idol. Clarke has had his back for 29 years, Fletch would have to do something stupid like not pick up the phone when Clarke calls. |

I don't comment here anymore and I really don't read your stuff anymore since you started working for the team, but this is the single best thing you've written in a LONG time and it's stuff like this that brought me to HB to begin with. - johndewar
I understand what you're saying but, to me, Bill's still the best and most knowledgeable when it comes to the Flyers. Have to take into account that he works for the team but he gives his opinions on the team. |

It really is incredible Fletcher brought back Braun, Seeler, and Connauton. I typed and still cannot believe it. |

Any chance that Fletcher successfully pulled off the big brain move and spent to the cap per the mandate from Dave Scott and tanking at the same time? |

We're told that the old guard country club has no influence yet the Flyers are still signing players because they can fight! Is there any single move that solidifies that and that the Flyers are so far behind the modern day NHL?

Well said Bill, it’s the apparent lack of direction that has us all frustrated and irritated. - FlyerLifer
This!
Once again, Bill nailed it.
The lack of a coherent, well thought out strategy, is as depressing as it is frustrating. I, along with many others are happy he didn’t trade away 1st round picks and players to sign JG. The Flyers are, as Bill said, no where near the point of only needing a scoring winger to be a bonafide contender. Well, if they are not, then why was he talking about a blank check, etc.??
Posting on here is not something I do here, often. However, at this point, it is clear the lack of a winning strategy, inability to develop the talent they do have, asset mismanagement, and trade blunders, is making it very obvious CF is further hurting this once proud franchise! Dave Scott hasn’t been any better.
It’s a dark era in Flyerland.
So F’ing sad!! |

Coots plays well, Bergy in Boston plays his last season. Boston needs to sign Pasta and wants a center like Bergy for Pasta and the rat, Flyers trade Coots to Boston.
TK, Sanheim and Provy all moved, picks, young players coming back, or somehow used as a sweetener to move Hayes and Cam. Hart plays well even though it is a shxt show, he gets moved. Risto has a better season and is moved for a 2nd. Laughton gets moved.
Deslauriers is 1st line center, AD #1 D, Ellis LTIR and can't play and Farabee is the captain. |
