Again, you do not know what the perspective of the Flyers is. They may well have inside information that he will be on LTIR for the rest of the season. Their D signings give some credence to that pov.

Here is what I know. I know what the Flyers tell us at the press conference. Fletcher stated that Ellis has to ramp up his training in July and then see where he is at and go from there. I also can look and see how they acted at the draft and through free agency. If they knew Ellis was going to out on LTIR for the full year. They would've acted differently
I read the entire conversation, sadly, while catching up today. SA flat out blew that prediction. But there is a difference between saying he was incorrect and that his rationale was wrong to begin with. He clearly suggested that the way to finance JG was buyout of JVR and a subsequent LTIRing of Ellis.
That is certainly speculation but it is not impossible at all, by your words. The Flyers may well know Ellis will be on LTIR.

Your response here tells me that you did not read the entire conversation and don't know the context.
The debate was not whether it was possible as I myself alluded to the fact that the Flyers could use off season LTIR with Ellis and Farabee and then worry about it later. I stated that multiple times. That was not in dispute at any time. At least not from my side.
Again, if you want to interject yourself into a conversation, that's fine. But know what the hell you're talking about. You don't.
My premise is this. A team is not going to risk putting itself millions over the upper limit in the Summer with out a clear avenue to become cap compliant for the season. Not having to rely on another team to bail them out later. Or that a player who they don't know at this point time will be able to be kept on LTIR.
stayin alive could not grasp that simple premise and then started posting that I said that a team would not put itself over the cap by millions period in the summer. He linked to Capfreindly saying look at the team that were over the cap. It was then explained to him that those teams have an avenue already in place to be cap compliant. He then went off on all kinds of asinine tangents that showed a lock of understanding of the salary cap and a lack of understanding of what was being said
You have continued in his footsteps
