Can any of Deangelo Braun or Risto play the left side?
- ClaudeFather

They are good on the left side. Provy, Sanheim, Yam Cork.

Don't know but why would you want them to?

Didn’t think through the left side. Just if Ellis is back, big if, that right side is jammed

It's been described as his entire core. If it was a vertebrae issue. I believe we would have better information and a more specific treatment plan would be in place. I guess it could also involve tendons or ligaments then I would think the same thing. If you think differently? I would be interested in what you have to say.
- MJL

Tendons and ligaments (and bones) was what I was getting at. There's a lot more that can go wrong in a hockey player's midsection than just muscles. Look at what Backstrom is having done.

https://www.washingtonpos...-hip-resurfacing-surgery/

His decision to finally have surgery was not surprising. Backstrom said in mid-May that his hip would “never be 100 percent” again and that surgery was likely. Hip resurfacing requires doctors to remove damaged bone and shave and reshape what is left before placing a metal cap on top to cover the bone.

Chuck is one of the few who talks to the doctors and knows all the details. If Ellis were anywhere close to being done for the year, Chuck would have spent all the money already.

There's gotta be a decent chance he's gonna be back sooner than later. And by back, probably 2-games before he reinjures and we do this all again.

He did kind of spend all the money on RR & TD. They make more combined that JG.
Then teams apparently wanted the Flyers 2023 1st to take JVR, which even Fletcher wasn't crazy enough to do.

See I can agree with you.
It is several layers of detachment and damage at a very close to and attached to bone.
I believe CF said they are trying to correct this in stages due to layers.

I don't think he plays again. Might be totally wrong but I get the sense they just don't want to announce it now.

They might play this game say a month or two into the season and the pull the " we shut him down for the season as he needs long term rest" or something of the sorts.

I wonder if there is something degenerative to his injury and that is the issue. I don't know.

They think they know how cap works. They know poop. Funny thing is a few years ago philly started season with less players than full roster to be cap complient. You don’t have to have 22 man roster.

Pit could easily carry 20 or 21 until they figure out what to do or any team for that matter. Then thinking you have to have some path to be complient in July using ltir as examples is totally retarded and false. All that matters is day 1 regular season. Actually even funnier is teams make rosters moves right up til last second with waivers placements back to jrs ahl all types of decisions last second. No path needed to prevent a team from using 10% allowance in off season. Cap experts like mjl should know this. But when caught and proven wrong will spin spin spin as always

- Stayin alive

well yeah. the pens dont necessarily need to be compliant now. but they NEED to move a defenseman. And if i was a potential trading partner id squeeze the (frank) out of them for it. Sort of like i wish teams would have done to Tampa.

Flyers Making a play for Jacob Chychrun?

If this is true, it really points to Ellis being done unless Provy is going the other way.

I don't think so, sitting on their hands doesn't seem to be the MO of this front office. They usually break things and figure it out later.

In this case, the cost to clean up the mess would be a bridge too far. If 1-year of JVR costs the 2023 1st, what would 5-years of Ryan Ellis cost to move in a pinch?

You are wrong. LTIR is available in the off season. I explained that to you previously. You're making yourself look like a complete idiot.

You just keep taking more rope.

- MJL

No shot ltir can be used in off season. More reason jg could’ve been signed. You can continue your false narrative.

Please explain how and why you said philly couldn’t get jg by trading Jvr or buying him out as it wouldn’t cover but maybe 50% of the way to getting cap complient.

Oh wait they let me guess they don’t have plan like the other teams that “have plan” to use ltir at season opening.

You continue to dodge the question

Or other teams that use ltir in off season to account for the 10% overage.

You’re so obtuse you think this is about cap understanding or anything else.

You stated moving Jvr wouldn’t be enough to fit jg in mid July plain and simple. Wrong. Since you’re the resident bumhole I mean resident cap expert please explain how and why they couldn’t fit him if
1) teams can use ltir in off season to to account for 10% overage and
2) teams go over cap in mid July with “plan” of using ltir to become cap complient at beginning of season.

I know you won’t answer because you know you’re wrong they ABSOLUTELY could’ve fit him by moving Jvr. They actually probably could’ve fit him without moving him but I’ll wait to hear how dumb I am and more rope.

Let’s see your answer cap expert

Chychrun averages about 60 games a year and has never played more than 68 games in any one season. He played 47 games last year. That's much better than 4, but it's certainly not ideal. I don't know why this isn't discussed more.

Seems like they have a definitive diagnosis for Backstrom and a definitive course of treatment. With Ellis it's been a mystery.
