Reports say JG had no performance or signing bonuses and also has no NMC. - MBFlyerfan
The NMC only covers the first 4-years. Then it becomes a modified NTC.

Patrick Brown. Was injured most of last year. - hereticpride
And it was still the most games he played in any NHL season by a long shot. I had not realized how little he had been used historically. Another diamond in the rough from our FO.

I don't get all of the good will towards Hextall, just because CF is failing. What has Hextall done for the Penguins ? He signed Jeff Carter, a good player yes, but only because he knew him from a prior job. He also resigned 3 existing aging players to lesser salaries, but c'mon, they are all in their 30's, even mid 30s. Were they worth even the reduced salaries ? They had to have Burke babysit him because they were worried he would do the same thing to them he did here. And finally, they don't have a good goalie. Not that I care about the Penguins mind you. Just not seeing how Hextall has been so competent. People forget he traded down in 2016 from Keifer Bellows to take 2 players who will never play in the NHL In 2015 He traded the pick to Montreal where they were able to draft Cayden Primeau. He reached for Jay O'Brien in 2018 because we "had" an extra pick that year. He signed JVR to the deal he has now. We never had a real 3rd line center (we still don't, but not the point here) - BluehorseShoe64
That's where they are in the life cycle, most Pens fans seem happy.
Jarry was pretty good this year. If he was healthy, they beat the Rangers.
Did more than just sign Carter but hey, whatever.
Will the Pens win the cup, probably not, but won't be that much of a shock if they have a good run.

No one had him top 10 until a few weeks before the draft when it came out he was changing positions, and considering we’re talking about the Flyers here why should we assume they can develop him at Center when they can’t even develop guys at their natural positions? Bill’s already said he think he end up back on the wing at the NHL too. - hereticpride
was his testing at the combine off the charts also?

OK, I read he has no NMC at all. Thanks for the clarification.

Maybe demonstrations at the home of Fletcher and his Comcast Darth Vaders in suits, class action suit by anyone who pays for Flyers hockey via cable/streaming subscriptions, tickets and fan gear. Oh yeah, and empty arena. Burn them down financially.

Meanwhile, the Canes hired Tulsky out of Philly (Flyers fan btw), who was a pioneer of hockey analytics, deep background in math and hard science, Harvard grad and PHD from UC Berkeley, worked for years in bleeding edge medical tech. Widely regarded as a bit of a genius.
They not only identified and hired him, they let him reshape their entire approach to evaluating players and prospects. And now he's a VP with a ton of influence over day to day hockey decisions. And he's been a finalist for the 'Hawks GM seat and others.
It's like comparing Nate Prosser to Victor Hedman. |

Explains how the Canes turned TDA into a 2nd,3rd, 4th, and Brent Burns when they could've just elected to pay TDA the same money. The Flyers analytics dept are still waiting to be issued logins for their computers.

Did Fletcher and his group deserve one more chance to try to get it right considering the combination of bad luck, and unexpected circumstances the past two years? Yes.
This, however. THIS...was the only thing they couldn't let happen. And they did! No Management team has ever failed so spectacularly in my lifetime as these Flyers - and there were a lot of bad Phillies teams, and Process-era Sixers and the sugar rush that was Chip Kelly.
But this is the worst of the worst of the worst.
Go. All of them. Nice people. Good people. But either very bad at their jobs or too closely associated with those that are.
End the disgrace, Give the city back their hockey team. NOW!

They'd have to agree on a contract unless he just accepted the QO, no? If he did accept it, I assume the could just waive him and send him down. They really aren't going to have him and ND in the same line up, are they?
Cates, Laszynski and Alison (if healthy) all need to be getting NHL ice time so they can see what they have. - rayc16
Cates did well at the end of the last season. People can say that the Flyers were playing all of their prospects, but that prospect was playing meaningful games for the opposing teams trying to position for the playoffs and he played really well.
I even think that the prospects played with a lot more heart than the normal starters at the end of the season, they just lacked cohesiveness.

is this true? - rayc16
Yes....he has also stated in interviews, that he is one of the first people to use analytics within the NHL...he believes no one else, no other organization was doing anything close to analytics prior to him and he pitched the Flyers on his services, despite never having done it...Nice enough guy, but talks in circles regarding previous hockey jobs, hockey in general etc...He "doesn't remember" his first job/how he got his start in the NHL, but speaks about his management experience for the Capitals, his advice given to the general manager etc
And he is the guy that's running the analytics department lol |

Chuck Fletcher should be forced to listen to Bill Matz and Kelly Hinkle lay out in specific detail how much of a moron he is on the most recent episode of their radio show. Dave Scott, Bob Clarke, Dean Lombardi and Paul Holmgren should listen as well.
I truely don’t know what’s worse, being as stupid and inept as Chuck Fletcher or Clarke, Lombardi, Scott and Comcast ignoring it without consequence. |
