They have one of the three largest departments in the league and dump as much cash as anyone into analytics. They also have access to some of the best and brightest analytics minds in the world under the Comcast NBC umbrella.
There is almost no other team more dedicated to analytics in the entire league. Just cause they love Risto does not mean they ignore analytics. Kinda hate to burst your bubble, but the analytics complaint about the flyers has not been relevant in a long time. - Joe Nardone
Lol, wtf is this post |

My question is what happens with sanhiem.
Will he be resigned. Does he want to be. Will it drag out and we get Pennie’s on the dollar or is this a trade before the season starts and we get a first. Would he fetch a first? Questions. Jvr. Braun. Tdl sells, sure. - Peter Richards
If he isn’t willing to re-sign at a fair price you just have to trade him. Simple as that. That said there should be no way in hell Chuck is the guy negotiating the trade. |

Scott Gomez was the other big FA.
Its one of the last times where luck was on the Flyers side as they definitely got the best player of the three. - MBFlyerfan
We hit on UFAs. Briere, Forsberg, Roenick, Jagr.
We actually were once pretty good with development. Gagne, Williams, Carter and Richards were good and successful NHL players. |

No one had him top 10 until a few weeks before the draft when it came out he was changing positions, and considering we’re talking about the Flyers here why should we assume they can develop him at Center when they can’t even develop guys at their natural positions? Bill’s already said he think he end up back on the wing at the NHL too. - hereticpride
Not too many had Wright at 4 or Nemec at 2 either. I don't agree it was a reach. And the more I watch him the more I think he will be a really good player. Big, fast , and highly skilled. And I also like that he is going the college route instead of Juniors. |

Keep forgetting about Isaac. Would play him over Mac. Since he’s here out all the rookies out with ND. See what they do. |

I still rely on Bill saying he thinks he moves back to wing in the NHL. In which case his pre draft ranking takes him down into the teens where he was by most accounts before saying he’d play Center at BC. There were just too many other forwards there I’d be more comfortable having taken (not to mention Jiricek as well) |

If this is true -- then these people are not good at their jobs - corduroy
Their analytics dept is like their team. No stars, just a bunch of prospects and plugs, led by a guy with a 1-year masters who used to book the hotels and travel for the Caps.

Ah missed that. He doesn't have to sign correct, I mean if I were him I wouldn't.

Bill is a scout now? lol
Every mock i saw, had him top 10, not a reach in my opinion at all. I think its a great pick for a draft without any true studs....time will tell

Yeah, he was my choice too. I thought maybe he’d slide to 4 but I couldn’t see Seattle passing on him. Kids apparently got totally off the charts hockey IQ. The Devils are going to be dominant in a couple years. |
