Holmgren was actually a pretty good GM. At least his big moves for the most part worked. He gave up first rounders for Hartnell and Timonen. Not the Ristolainens of the world. He had his mistakes of course but nothing on the Fletcher scale.

He's the guy I feel most bad for next season.

Hindsight is 20/20 and all but I’m just thinking how we could have used those picks we traded for DeAngelo to move up to 3, take Wright and still have the money to be in the Gaudreau conversation regardless of a JVR trade with the Lindblom buyout/money not thrown at DeAngelo.

I'm embarrasing myself. LOL It doesn't matter how much you watch any player. The rest of the hockey world saw McAvoy as a top 5 Norris trophy defenseman and 2nd team all NHL. Which means he's one of the top 10 skaters in the NHL! But he's not worth his contract! He's a flat out stud!

So DeAngelo's comments that he's really working on his game is enough for you? Never mind the actual evidence of his defensive play. You can't be a complete stiff defensively and be a really good defenseman. If you want to say he's really good on the offensive side of the puck, you'd be okay.

Let's review what I have posted about DeAngelo beyond his obvious stats. 1. he is a good player, 2. he is a good OFFENSIVE defenseman and 3. he is actively working to become a more complete player, specifically his defensive game.

If someone internally takes a hard look at this debacle, how they responded to this input is at least another factor to consider. Boomer and Hahn on Sirius NHL say Flyers the top loser yesterday. They have no idea what they are doing. NO direction at all. Saying they should have tons of cap space. They are BAD and EXPENSIVE.

Asking who were they fighting against to give Deslauriers 4 years when it is quite clear no one was giving him 3 years?

I have as about as much expectation for Allison to play as Ellis. The guy lifts up a water bottle and his wrist falls apart. I’m amazed anyone still has faith in him.
