Believe that Fletchers job has been secured by management before this offseason. The decision is to go for cap sanity and look forward to some draft lottery luck. This upcoming season is one to evaluate young players with a demanding HC. Problem is that CF has never been adept at finding young talent. If he wasn't given job security, he would have swung for the fences. This is why I've repeatedly said I don't listen or read their pressers, it's always spin annd BS. |

Today is 14 July 2022 and chuck fletcher is the worst GM in the history of sports
Well it seems he can't recover from one move. Ellis sent Fletcher into a tailspin of additional moves that are spiraling the team down. I also do not dislike Risto, but agree they overspent for him. I think they overvalued Risto because they don't have Ellis in the line up. At this point, CF is managing scared. There were several good defensemen in play, but we tied our hands too early.
Would have been nice to be able to use Ellis's cap hit, but I suppose injured players cannot be bought out ? Seems like a collective bargaining protection. Nashville played this one beautifully. |

I’m shocked that 48 has not been given the GM job yet w Fletch moving upstairs. Shocked. - Joe Nardone
What makes anyone think that Briere is ready to be an NHL GM? Personally, he can leave along with the rest of the crew.

When does the cap sanity part come in?

I’m assuming they know Ellis isn’t coming back early so they are putting him on ltir to be cap complaint after the rfa’s are signed ? I would think if that wouldn’t be the thinking they would have just bought out jvr by now for that space. |

From what I’ve read he wants out and not many teams can take that contract. He’s not in a position to be picky - hereticpride
He holds all the cards. He wants to be a Ranger . He will get traded at the deadline and if Rangers are the only team he will waive to go to Hawks will get very little for him. Zero chance he waives to go to Flyers now |

I thought about how to appropriately comment on the whole situation and the saddest indictment of this team, management, and ownership, is that there quite frankly is nothing meaningful left to say. |

Hopefully that’s the case. I have a feeling Chuck still has one more big stupid move to lay on us still. |

Truthfully, fans should have seen this outcome from a mile away. Over the past five months, Fletcher and the Flyers have been on a run seemingly tailor-made to crush the spirits of longtime Flyers fans, particularly those of the sentimental or analytically inclined variety.

Fletch is right that those types of players are hard to find because they've been left off NHL rosters for the past 10 years... |

Well, now that the ND deal is done, if he can't score any goals I at least hope that he pummels Tom Wilson a few times just for the heck of it. It isn't worth the money spent but since it already has been... |

I mean… if the point was to get out of Canada and still get paid - and Flyers were off the table - I’d take living in an Ohio suburb over North Jersey all day and twice on Sundays
Only a few hours from home without having the entire city of Philadelphia hate him for going to the Devils |

What he really meant to say was - crap Philly said no to almost 70 mill
Jersey pulls out cause they really were just in it to run the number up and now I have to scramble so I guess I have to go to osu country which is an 8 hour drive away from south jersey.
Oh and btw there are 10 teams off the top 🔝 f my head that are at least as close to him for Johnny as Columbus. 10. Look at the teams and answer me why it was really only the team lower in the standings engaged?
Why didn’t any decent teams (assuming we are not classifying the islanders as decent) get involved?
We all get the cap is always a prob for good teams. We get that, but not one team made any big moves to fit him in. Why is that?
This contract had buyer beware written all over it and thank god we did not sign him. Thank god. |

Hindsight is 20/20 and all but I’m just thinking how we could have used those picks we traded for DeAngelo to move up to 3, take Wright and still have the money to be in the Gaudreau conversation regardless of a JVR trade with the Lindblom buyout/money not thrown at DeAngelo.
Possibly
Wright
Gaudreau
Instead
Reach on Cutter over Jiricek
DeAngelo

I don’t really see the relevance of the comparisons.
Also I get letting Lindholm walk. No issue w it. Ina vacuum it makes sense, but man the perception looks like shyt with the simultaneous - ridiculous contract givin to goonpking guy. Fletcher has 0 pr skills and it showed. - Joe Nardone
