He failed on many levels last year, when much more was expected of him by management. Which is why PD wont allow anything to fester with the team this year....every game is critical in banking points early in the season.

The C Brown move was the first I am not sold on this off-season. He'd have looked good riding shotgun with Pinto.... but Mathieu Joseph showed he deserves a shot in the top 9 with his play at the end of the year.

I'd have kept Brown if only to step up should two of our top-nine players find themselves looking for jobs in the KHL before season's end.

With the coach, it's not just about defensive structure, like you said....its learning from mistakes...he has to learn to make ingame adjustments....you name it...

Oh i know DJ is a lot like Blashill was and their systems were even similar. So glad Blashill is gone and the Wings finally have some new coaches. Dorion easily could have went for a new coach this off-season but with a new coach if they started bad, his job likely would be on the line. With DJ still there that gives Dorion and easy out to put the blame on the coach if things start off badly and satisfy the angry fans with an offering that isn't his head. Gms only have so many coaching changes they can do before it's their heads on a pike the fans and owners want.

This whole thing is like some pagan spiritual/orgy ritual where the tribe gathers at some sacred spot, everyone drinks the secret magic potion and then proceed to experience hallucinogenic delusions which they believe are coming to them from the gods. You've even got you're self appointed high priests volunteering to oversee the proceedings so that can purge the gathering of all non believers. I believe you've already met at least one of them.

That secret magic potion is really powerful - so powerful is that it can persuade many of the acolytes to believe, amongst other things, that a 2nd round pick in 2024 is a fair and perfectly understandable return for Brown. Scary stuff!

There’s a few guys on here that think they’re seeing stuff that nobody else is:

- Dorion is motivated to make moves because he'll be fired if this team fails again.
This is true, but this team is also ready to take some steps forward and that means spending assets.
- Adding Debrincat means he’ll either walk in a couple years or there won’t be enough money for everyone.
What a great problem to have. So you move him or someone else to make it work….and restock assets in return
- Gus will get better as time goes on and Talbot will get worse.
Talbot is a good goalie now, and the Sens have other guys in the pipeline can’t keep them all.
- Dorion shouldn’t be given credit for getting rid of bad contracts he gave guys. He’s cleaning up his own mess.
This one I agree with, but dumping our worst contract on the leafs makes me happy.

Move Zaitsev and sign another D and it’ll be impossible to view this off-season as anything but great.

So Vegas gives Carolina Max Pacioretty for free. Unbelievable. I think they traded Suzuki and Tatar plus a 2nd round pick to get Pacioretty. I think that's in a class of its own when it comes to asset management.

The other guy i like from Vegas is defenseman Nicolas Hague. Still somewhat unproven and a RFA that shouldn't be expensive. 6'6 220 pounds 23 year old. His stats don't look like much but when you look at his last season in the OHL, you know there could be something there in the near future. 67 games, 35 goals, 78 points and 109 minutes of penalties. 35 friggin goals for a defenseman in 67 games.

The defenseman i would think they would rather move would likely be Martinez if they deal one. My guess is they likely try to unload William Karlsson first. They would need to dump even more if true they have a handshake deal already for Smith.

Hague seems solid, great points on him! They made the Reilly Smith deal official today, 5M AAV. Karlsson is such a bad contract!
