At the same time Brown is a Swiss Army knife..those guys are coveted at the deadline.

Addition by subtraction: we got two top 6 forwards and lost a bottom 6 forward.

Easier to replace the bottom 6 guy.

It's a bit surprising there wasn't a team to beat that offer. Not that Brown is elite but he's a durable 3rd line player. On the right team, he'd be a key piece. It's too bad the outlook after this season, he was likely gone, so now is a good time to move him as any.

The 2nd is ok for a return. Fairly certain that move moves are to come.

Sorry everyone, phone is nonstop now....at the deadline they could've got a 1st rounder for him....right now....they weren't getting anything else straight up on an expiring contract due to all the teams that didn't qualify quality RFA's....

that should scare everyone, i still think dorion is a moron, finding a dumber GM in letting Cat got a so little does not make him a genious, if he gets any D but Theodore or Chychrun its a massive L for OTT, Marino is Zeitsev 2.0 and weegar IMO is way overrated will want 6m+ long term on his next deal.

I will agree with your thoughts on Marino. The stuff I have read on him in the last 24 hours or so leave me with a meh feeling if the Sens were to acquire him. I'd much rather aim for Chychrun or Weager. I wonder if there are some other names floating around that we haven't touched on yet.

Dorion has not had a great rep during his GM tenure but the last week has been pretty impressive. I am sorry that you don't feel the same but there is a sense of optimism about this team now that hasn't been seen in years.

I feel the 1st rounder would have come from a team like Tampa or Colorado. I'd find it hard to believe non-elite teams would fork up a quality first rounder for a 3rd liner but I have seen stranger trades in this league.

2nd rounder is fine and an asset than can be used in a variety of ways.

Yes he’s worth it.

He’s a versatile forward who plays up and down the lineup.

One of the best PK scorers, can play pp and is on a reasonable cap hit, which only gets better by the deadline.

Gaudreau signing with Columbus. The top 8 teams wont have such a gap between the bottom teams this year.

When the Sens traded Foligno for Methot some folks were outraged. It took awhile for fans to appreciate how important this physical Dman was in allowing Karlsson's game to flourish.

We have to trust that the Sens are looking for a right fit for Chabot, Zub and Sanderson. At first, like others, I thought Methot was just a plodder. Would be great if the Sens could add a big body like Methot. Chychrun has Methot size and better skill.

Exactly, you gotta know the fit with the team....great point on Methot....heck to take it a step further was Filip Kuba ever a top 2 or 4 Dman on any other team he played on? No....but he was perfect to play with Karlsson in terms of the fit!

Exactly, they had to do it.....I'm telling you Brown wanted out....I will write about it at a later date but I knew this back at the Canadian Open...had the chance to talk to him then off the record.
