Team was 88 goals behind the 8th spot in goal differential. A backup goalie and 6th D don't shave much off that.

Legitimately, bare minimum to compete for 8th would be a top 6 forward, top4 D, and a reasonable starting goalie.

It is a difference in philosophy. We aren't trying to make the playoffs next year, we are trying to win a championship. Incremental upgrades this year don't get us closer to that. The fastest and best way to it is to develop from within.

I'd much rather be us than teams like Columbus or Dallas. If you aren't building or trying to maintain then you are chasing.

There is nothing this team can do without major trades that will make us a perennial playoff contender. Development of what's here must continue with most.

The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract (2022-23 to 2024-25) with forward Juraj Slafkovsky.
