Tampa has continuously bend the rules for cap, and had stupidly friendly team contracts. Sergachev makes more than Hedman. Hedman didnt sign that long ago.
- Mentalorgasm5

They bent the cap during the season - that's a big difference. Putting Kucherov on LTIR a couple of years ago allowed them to get a rental. That has nothing to do with the bigger picture and how they've slotted their contracts.

I was joking about the .25 million that was always your issue , (with the girgensons deal).

Went over your head then and again.
Pretty tall joke to go over your head ☝️

5 years x 5 or 5.5 million was always my prediction.

So the Ben Bishop move was, in fact, an indicator, of the next to nothing that was going to happen today.

They can be 10% over until the season starts. They will figure it out later.

No, the opposite. Everything they do they do with the cap in mind. They now have all of their core locked up to (mostly) team-friendly deals. It they had kicked the can down the road they would be selling today like so many others are.

Adams cleared the "bare minimum" bar. So we've got that going for us, which is nice

Sure it does. They shouldnt have had cap space to do that. As I said, good teams dont worry about the cap, they make it work. Tampa is a GREAT example of that.

As peeps sit here worrying about players we need to resign 2, 3, and 4 years out. Silliness.

That's how it was for most teams so far. A couple of nice moves, a bunch of rearranging deck chairs, and a lot of bad moves.

Of course they bent the rules in season in order to make a trade. They are not in any way, shape or form an example of "worry about the cap later". They are the ultimate example of draft, develop, don't sign foolish contracts. They've had these guys slotted years in advance.

Tampa actually has done the opposite

They have set up their core for the long term, most of which were drafted by the team (minus the stupid Drouin trade by Montreal)

Lemieux as a toughness depth player would have been nice at 1.3
