Those signings don't kick in till 23-24, they'll have 13 guys signed to $79 million - Wanchuk
The "who" in these contracts is what sets them apart. Their core is young and locked up. They aren't looking to pay people to take bad contracts because they don't sign bad contracts. They absolutely did it the right way and continue to do it the right way. |

Of course they bent the rules in season in order to make a trade. They are not in any way, shape or form an example of "worry about the cap later". They are the ultimate example of draft, develop, don't sign foolish contracts. They've had these guys slotted years in advance. - Slump Buster Okay, they have signed bad contracts.
Ryan McDonough says hi, what did they do? They traded him to make the cap work for their 3 resignings.
They almost always trade away their 1st round picks. No other team has drafted as well as tampa in the later rounds.
They are a perfect expect of win now, pay now, figure the cap out when we need space. All the evidence of what they have done shows this. |

He wasn't going to sign here now when he refused to sign here after drafting him

After extending Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak we now show the #Lightning as having $78,958,333 committed to 14 players (8F-4D-1G-1IR) in 2023-24."
That'll be fun to watch next year.

Maybe joker now - Anderdog
Joker saw alot of ice time late in the season, pretty sure they wanted to see what he had. With /power.
I could see him moved, if they didnt like his tendencies.
Maybe lunaion is correct , comfortable partnership isnt enough 🤔 |

1st round picks for Hagel, coleman, and goodrow, a total of 4 for the 3 of them.

They added McDonough later on when their window was open. Shorter term is much easier to get rid of. They have in fact traded many of their firsts, either for rentals or for cap-friendly deals (Hagel). Again, the cap is always on their mind. They aren't out spending like drunken sailors on days like today. They aren't looking to get better today.

Because they won now, paid now, and now are figuring out how to fit players under the cap.

Sure it does. They shouldnt have had cap space to do that. As I said, good teams dont worry about the cap, they make it work. Tampa is a GREAT example of that.
As peeps sit here worrying about players we need to resign 2, 3, and 4 years out. Silliness. - Mentalorgasm5
Are you trying to compare a team that made the Stanley cup three years in a row to a bottom 10 team?? Their deals and contracts aren’t comparable to us. This post is nonsense.
The cap is very real, teams lose good players all the time because of it. Sure you can “make it work” when you have a top 5 player in the league, another top 20 forward, a top 3 D and a top 3 goalie.
Eventually when everyone gets paid, which they are now, it will harder to harder to win. They won’t have their value contracts anymore and will have to trade off some pieces |

They also didn't have to trade away any picks to make it happen
How did they get to the win now mode?
They drafted and developed
The have one of if not the best goalies in the world, and one of the defensemen in the world
Then there is former #1 overall Stamkos, add in Point, Kuch, Cirelli all players that are studs which they drafted and developed

I like seeing this - DirtyDan As great it is to see. I rather see Johnny Gaudreau signing in Philly, with JVR and FLAs 1st going to buffalo for the worst of our 2nd round picks next year. |
