When in San Fran we toured the Napa Valley, hired a private driver for a tour, who was well versed in wine.
He told us that you shouldn’t judge a wine by the grape, rather by the region.
Honestly I think he’s right, I love California reds, Napa, Paso Robles, Sonoma.
I prefer the cab sauv, some bottles are cheep as poop and I still enjoy them.
Some other regions I don’t mind for reds are Australia and Argentina. - pete26
I'd actually judge by both. And there is a difference of terroir even the same regions due to local soil, topography, and micro weather/climate differences. The latter of which is also important as the same label of different vintage can taste like ambrosia one year and cat piss another year.
But I'm not a fan of certain grapes. Particularly merlot. Although I'll drink it on occasion if it happens to be blended, particularly when it's added into certain cab sauvs.
And I agree about Cali reds, as well as Argentina, the latter which I'd like to visit someday as well as Chile. A friend used to live in Napa and his wife's a teetotaler so we took every chance to visit when we could cause it was always free board and tour guide and a guaranteed DD.

I almost bought it last week when it was on sale at Publix (I'm not sure when the sale expires so I'll have to check again next time we go grocery shopping). 19 Crimes (owned by Treasury Estates) also has Snoop Dogg Cali Rosé, among other offerings. 19 Crimes also have what they call Living Wine Labels, where Snoop's (and the other criminals') label comes to life when you point your phone at it (but of course you need to first install their app) and he talks to you (and other stuff). Anyway, I heard the Snoop Cali Red isn't bad...

Going there next year for my 40th birthday Pete. Yes, it's a great region for red wines; plenty of good cabernets there. I won't touch a steering wheel for 10 days

IDK man, I hate the Leafs as much as the next guy but I don't think the Oilers would've done any better against TB. - BashCH
Maybe, but I think they added more depth around their star players. Something is wrong in Toronto when you keep losing in the first round year after year. And for me that's too much money into 4 guys.
Maybe they could add a guy like Palat at a price that makes sense. But at the end of the day, they will most likely have to make one or two trades. I don't think Murray is the anwser either.
