Reimer is a good option, probably not overly expensive in a trade either. Goalies like him existing right now is the perfect example of why the story on Murray has got to be "make it worth our while or beat it".

I would say that I don't love Varlamov - but he had the best overall statistics of the goalies we've considered. It's still influenced by Trotz' defensive style on the Islanders, though.

I mentioned that I looked at 74 goalies who had played in 10 or more games last year, and at their individual LD, MD, and HD stats for Goals Saved Above expected, and only 13 goals were positive in all 3 areas:

Shesterkin, Sorokin, Andersen, Markstrom, Kuemper, Saros, Husso, Demko, Quick, Francouz, Varlamov, Raanta and Ullmark.

Even in something like GSAx, you can see team defense heavily influences the goaltender behaviour - because the best defenses allow the weaker HD and MD chances - what it really does is highlight how good Shesterkin, Markstrom, Saros, Husso, Demko, Quick and Ullmark actually were - they were all excellent for their teams.

I don't think there is any likelihood of a Leaf deal for Murray. First he is always injured and is not likely to get off the injury reserve list long enough to sign a contract. Second, he is not very good at stopping pucks when he is healthy. Third, he just a bad fit wherever you try to place him.

Tomorrow is last day for buyouts so players have to be on unconditional waivers today.

Not sure if said already but Murray can waive his right to waivers ..his choice. So I'd assume if he's in control of any deal then he's going to waive his right too. Waivers is just to protect the player's right to $$ in the face of a buyout.
