Toews and Kane are only making $7 million each this year and last, and how much do they owe the Blackhawks over the past couple of years

The Hawks spent almost $8 million dollars to move up in the 1st round of the draft, and then all of a sudden they are worried about revenue.
- BetweenTheDots

After saving him at least 20M by moving Cat and Dach

Sorry the Blackhawks actually paid almost $9 million dollars to move up in the 1st round, the goalie is actually due $4.4 this year and next

They could easily bring up the 2 Rockford goalies so there's plan B.

Oh and btw they have 2 goalies under contract

- BetweenTheDots

Then they wouldn't have the 25th pick. Sure, but they have hopes for Soderblom and didn't want him to get shell shocked behind this team.

Why waste a spot on him when you can get a prospect that playing time or a vet you can sign on a one year deal and trade at the deadline. Or better yet some toughness up front. We're gonna be horrible might as well make it rough for opposing teams

To me the Debrincat trade was rushed and Davidson and company panic and in the end got bent over like you said with his pants down. To late now. But the one thing that bothers me the most is that is that if teams did meet the trade demands they did not have to trade him. Wait until tdl and see what happens there and complete the other two trades. Plus nit getting a prospect in the Mrazek deal since they were so desperate to move him and on top of that not selecting lambert was a huge miss. But it's over let's see what other moves are made before free agency and after.

Well wish Dach and the Cat well with their new teams . Understand trading ADC wish we got more ,but that just human nature .I was not on board with trading Dach after our terrible track record ,but it is done now and I hope we show more patience with our future number 1 picks . I like the picks little off the board at times but you need to do that too. We got 6 players in the hockey news top 100 for whatever that's worth . I believe we will be in the running for the top pick next year and that is a very good thing with the talent coming up .We all new this was coming now its time to pay the piper .

Yep the bill comes due and with the benefit of hindsight they should've started trying to trade Core players to restock the pond after the 3rd Cup was raised in 2015 from those teams.

Not too many teams in all of sports operate like the Patriots in the NFL and are able to sustain that type of success, but in retrospect I wish the Hawks had used their model. Is what is is and here we are.

I also wasn't on board with trading Dach but for selling low on him I thought they did ok. Nazar looks like he could be a pretty exciting player with skill who competes all over the ice and I like the fact he's headed to U of M which is churning some good NHL prospects these days.

What is it you don’t like about Korchinski? Good skater, excellent passer, strong transitional stats, decent size but like most kids is weak defensively.
- paulr

And the one thing this kid and the other long term developing dee-man do is get the puck up ice quickly, big strides and lateral movement so they don't get deterred.
Kochinski is a extremely fine passer everywhere.
In Columbus Jones was told to defer and give Brad Werenski the biscuit in transition if he could, and took a backset insofar as power play minutes too.
Korchinski is one of the most outstanding puck movers at his position in the draft.Forget the attributes of the two Czechs, they don't haven't established the level of aspect. He is flashy, but there is zero wasted movement and his timing is almost perfect. You do not break along standing league record for assist w/o talent. What you will see is super active stop & starts in all three zones., due to is low knee bend and
impressive footwork in tight spaces. He has four direction skating ability and and is going to be a big guy when fully filled out. This is the type of attacking mailman they were hoping Boqvist would evolve into. The hawks got the one power play defender they needed, and terrific outlet passer and home rum outlet passer. No more looking for a guy who is big fluid to go with the other big stay at home defenders they have and the attacking Smurfs in the farm. U R going to be surprised.

I think you will see different Rockford forwards (and defenseman) auditioning al year , but more like the Russian and the little brother (Slavin).

Did it bother anybody when they read the hawks commenting on they were keeping an eye on the Junior team Canada investigation?

The team included Boris Katchouk and Taylor Raddysh...

Other than there were several better choices in that spot? He isn't just weak defensively, he isn't smart defensively.
- Elbows15

Totally untrue, Elbows.

Defensively his game is about timing and an active stick to reach in and steal pucks.

He actually doesn't stray too far from playing a more safeguard defensive position, less willing to try to go in for the kill.

Sure, we will be waiting for more physicality

ya they did ok with that pick, was chatting with the Nephew(my true Jr. scout) when the Hawks were making that pick he was calling for Kemell well I was saying Nazar so we will see on that one .
Do you think they will trade Seth this week ? ,I would hate to see them retain any salary .Bad enough the return will be rather low to say the least .

So, overpay for plugs is your plan? Makes no sense.
- Elbows15

The Hawks have to overpay for plugs this year regardless. Even with ADB, and Dach who the hell would want to play on this team on purpose? You sure as hell aren't going to win anything, so what would the other argument be? You might be able to pad your stats if the coach gives you a chance to play with ADB?

Wouldn't surprise me. My guess is they would have to retain a bit of salary to get something half decent back.

Who were the 6 players in THN's top 100?

Yes you are probably right ,that will be tough to carry around that chuck of change for 8 years .
I have not got my copy of the news with me but I believe the 1st 6 players we drafted were all listed in the top 100 .

Possibly Brisebois had some inside info on these two at the WJC, non-disclosure agreement or not, and sent them along to Chicago in the Hagel trade. Was it a coincidence they were traded shortly before the settlement was announced?

Don't know. If he wants out, maybe Dallas would be a good landing spot since they are losing Klingberg at RD. We shouldn't expect a great return and will have to take back a bad contract or two especially if no Jones salary is retained. Stars would probably like to get out from under those Benn and Seguin contracts, but they have NMC's.

On the other hand if he is traded who's going to eat up 25 + blue line minutes per game?

Still would like to see something about that trade from the Hawks' perspective. Makes a lot of sense for the Pens, but for the Hawks????
